Protective film on body

hello

I have a paint or rather protective film problem
Left a spare F150 shell for about 6 months, got round to painting it today and the protective film has like all broken down and instead of coming off in big sheets it is coming off in little bits
Been an hour so far ( p****d off with that ) tried hairdryer now it seems to be almost stuck to body
Thinking of chucking it now really cheesed off, any ideas ??

I've never encountered that on the smaller scales I've painted over the years.
I suppose be patient - 1 hour spent now will be appreciated for the next 3-48 months (depending on how you drive it of course !!!).

try some zippo lighter fluid. it won't hurt the lexan. it helps remove glue residue from stickers

Zippo fluid, wd-40, nitro fuel, kerosene (spot test first, it may eat the lexan?), or just a good dish washing soap, not the automatic dishwasher soap, but the liquid stuff in a bottle...

Perhaps a little WARMTH might help, with the suggested soapy water?

Steer clear of the solvents for now, to avoid damaging the part you want.

you could also try a hair dryer. like I use a heat gun for removing decals off 1:1 autos
