PSU AC to dc

Has anyone ever attempted this here? I bought a charger and before really paying attention I bought it then realized it was DC only so now I'm starting a little project to make a power supply into an AC to DC converter. I have found articles online but nothing is the same or set in stone some people do it this way, while others go another route all together...just wanted to get all of your thoughts. should I just sell the charger and buy the AC/DC model or try and get this done (i like projects). anyways let me know

I bought an Elenco power supply kit a few years ago. It's a really fantastic kit and output is quite stable. I tested it on my oscilloscope and the DC output wave is clean. It requires quite a bit of soldering though but well worth it. Output is only 1A at 12v though, so you'll need to see what's required for your charger.

well the requirements are 340w & 30amp minimum for all 4 ports charging at the same time. so yeah need a beefy PSU. I have one out of my pc we are performing surgery on at the moment, I'll take some pics for you guys once we get this thing up and working...the PSU I'm running is 940W, 80amp dc output...so this will be more than enough.

I've looked at the converters from Hobby king...but I just can't see myself spending that much again right now...if this fails then yes I will purchase the converter from HK. Thanks for the input...keep it coming
