just redone my pull start as i broke last outing, recoiled it, replaced pull cord connected it all up as per the guide, and the pawl jobby doesn`t even connect to the fly wheel, am i missing something lol. as it worked perfectly before i snapped the pull cord.

thought i`d found the problem i forgot to put the spring back in lol. but still not turning engine over, think the tension is alll out on the cord, i`ll sort it tommorrow now.

ok on the pawl, the center bolt that holds the spring inplace. be sure its not OVER tightened. if you tighten it too much, it ll hang up the starter pawl. loosen it just a bit until you can pull the cord and the pawl start to pop out (Pull starter assembly OFF the rig, just holding it in your hands).

once you get that sorted, the rest is fairly simple.

what bolt is loosening up now? the starter pawl bolt? if yes, its TOO loose, where before it was too tight.

ah right it just keeps turning i think the screw is actually either threaded or too short.

yea, the screws are too short in the starters. use an m5 bolt. the ones used to hold the fancover on are perfect. i used one from an hpi exhaust pipe.(same exact screw)

make sure the square hole is lined up with the square on the pullstart housing.

got some threadlock on it see if that does the trick.

ive had that screw/bolt come loose destroyed the flywheel but the worst bit id borrowd the engine from a mate just to see what it was like in my marder with a 23cc

ste is your pawl ok? if so mate i have a spare pull start here that just needs a pawl, if the locktite dunt work gis a pm and you can come over for it if you want?

lol it's the round plastic or metal ring woth 2 lugs that turn the flywheel, it's here if you want it bud just bring your old one wothe you and make a good un out of both.
