i have a king motors ksrc-002 with 30.5cc-km pullstart keeps tearing up-it keeps bending the washer and the piece that grabs the claw, the claws is ok,but keeps slipping.motor has alot of compression, will metal claw and pawl set solve problem

A metal ratchet or pawl depending on where you are (fill out your location for better help) should do the trick. DDM sell them in the US or Rossendale Models, MMR etc in the UK

k,m pullstarts a known to fail from new, i,ve had an s,q pullstart for 18months and its still going strong, as dwarfy said try to get one with metal guts, allso try and service it every now a again that makes them last twice as long.

+1 to pable, think the worst pull starts out there, as usual the rovan ones are a little better but as always the zen ones last heaps longer.

to help then run an outerwears on it, the dust tends to destroy them quicker and an outerwears will keep allot (not all) of the dust out of that section, a good blow with a compressor helps as well.

the prawl and internal components on a zen is worlds better than the other stuff, if you decide to buy a whole new assy for a spare or whatever make it a zen, you wont regret it.

the metal innards are ya best option, failing that, get a new pull start (zenoah if poss) with an outerwears! ..if you don't get an outerwears & you run in dust/mucky conditions, same thing will happen no matte what kind of pullstart you have :(

There is a shop a few miles down the road from me that sell the Zenoah pull start in Greenfeilds.
J
Any will fit the two stroke RC engines.

mine done same thing, the solution is get a pullstarter that has the COLLAR around the pawl, having metal or stock makes no difference, its the COLLAR that does. on stock one, the pawl will cock to one side, jam and screw up the pullstarter.

i got one with COLLAR, and have had no issues since, and its not the metal pawl either.

the collar keeps the pawl straight as it goes out, so it wont cock to the side.
i spent a few hours studying this, and the collar solves the issue completely

pullstarter

Get a Zenoah pull starter.
just wondering- what is different about the zenoah pullstarter than the king motor-others have mentioned this pullstarter-why will or should it work better-so far the km pullstarters don't last long at all-motor needs alot of grip from pullstart to crank-runs fine, just tears up pullstart
