I am kinda getting into building my own engines. I think its a good idea to have a solid baseline for fuel, the darned pump gas has too many varables - winter-summer formulas - the non ethanol pump gas i can buy has issues in a 2 stroke engine also. Aeromatics - strong solvents that are a cheap way to increase octane- ect,ect. I have been looking at Sunoco 260 gtx. no oxygenates, specific gravity - is safe for 927 castor, octane- [r+m]/2 -98. motor octane is 93. It has a 2 year shelf life. It is not cheap. about $65.00 usd for 5 us gallons. but then, a set of tires costs more than the fuel - engine parts are not cheap either. Any one else on this site run this sunoco 260 gtx? just wondering---

I got into 1/5 scale for many reasons.one being fuel is 3-4 dollars a gallon.I spent enuff money on nitro fuel over the years.so to start having your rc run on dedicated race fuel seems costely IMO...

It does seem a bit pricey. Honestly, these engines don't seem to be as picky as some believe. Been running regular pump gas since I got into 5th scale and I've never had any issues with it.

I'm with Ildy, Nitro is $35+ a gallon, and a PAIN in the ASS to adjust/tune to weather conditions. That's EXACTLY why I run a 1/5 scale now! I run 92 or 93 octane and have excellent results.
