I just ordered a radio from one of my Hong Kong retailers. For the price I had to take a chance. Getting too many rc's again and out of rx/tx to run them. At $43 for a 3ch 8 model radio, it's a steal. I have seen one locally and looked decent and felt comfortable.

and at $9 per extra rx, I got 7 extras so it will be full and I can add a few more rc's hehe

it shipped during the day, and just checked tracking and it left hong kong now. we'll see how long it takes but I have found stuff from China normally arrives very fast. I have read they are extremely back logged for christmass at hong kong post, but if it allready left the country, I should be good to go

so shipped to my door, radio, 8 rx's, and a couple Y cables was $135... just waiting for his gasser boats to come back in stock now :D ... I got my chargers here (met this guy on ebay about 4 years ago)

I know Rich got one for his younger brother from a local lhs, but had a different name

I got to check this one out. looks identical to me aside from the brand name and extra $25. I would have bought one but he didn't have any extra rx's in stock (and he charges $20 each extra)... after paying 60 for a spekky rx... this seemed too good of a deal

hey pipe was lookin at that radio myself as i use stick tx and was guna try a pistol tx and didn't want to spend a fortune on a specy and not get used to it :blush: could you let us know how you get on with it please :cool2:

I have checked tracking about 5 times today allready. I know it just left china, but canadapost is really good for updates. as soon as it gets scanned into customs, it will be posted on the site... honk kong post is really good. they said something on the site about being delayed for shipments but it was shipped and next day tracking said left hong kong, so it's on a plane... I got my chargers from him in 4 days last time

that radio above was sold to a hard core crawler bud and he's had no complaints... if it works out (and I will try binding the rx's with my spektrum and this tactic that came with my duratrax bike), we will have a great inexpensive radio.. might not take the bouncing around a better radio would, and if there is an electrical problem, I have a couple techs to drop it off with. Steve is the man here for that.

Talk about fast!! My radio is allready in Vancouver Customs being reviewed.

Side note. Friend that got the copy from S&N hobbies just tried binding the rx with his dx3r and no go. so must be airtronics or futaba shift then

Radio arrived today. It looks and feels very solid. Far too many buttons for me LOL... man it has a lot of functions. Also came with a usb cable for gaming. I paid zero tax and duty on arrival, and they even tossed in a handful of servo extensions free

I'll need to toss in batteries and set it up in an rc and see how it performs tonight and tomorrow

I had some running around to do. took the radio over to a friend's tonight to have a look. He has 42 rc's so needs more receivers. I have had some cheap radios before. I ordered in a case of Iwaver monster trucks. 10 trucks, 7 bad radios... man alive. They felt cheap even if they looked cool.

This radio has some feel to it. It's fairly light but doesn't feel weak. The manual on the website will be fixed shortly. They gave a url to the menu in the box that was different than on the site, so I emailed and they are aware. That said, I read the manual and downloaded the pdf before I actually turned the radio on. The menu is really straight forward. I went in hours after reading, and you can pretty much toy around be navigating. It was easier than reading the manual ;) (reminds me of an old futaba manual except their symbols make sense... no need to have a flow chart open to program it... throttle and pitch curves took some insight hehe...anyway

there are 5 toggle switches and 3 buttons, all can be programmed to be whatever you want. you can have dual rate on toggle or push button with presets, change parameters of servo, rate, epa, abs, etc etc.. every editable function in the menu can be assigned to a button or toggle in some way. It's very easy to do, or turn the button off. buttons and wheel on right is for menu stuff. wheel is enter if you don't want to hit the enter button. back button, up/down or next/previous up top.

The wheel pivots too so get what's comfortable. it's friction held buts seems to stay with initial playing around

here's a quick vid to show a few things... oh ya 8 characters per model name, 8 models
it's converting in progress yada and says be about 20 mins

I still have my dx3 for sure but for some of the models I couldn't afford to buy all the expensive gear plain and simple... yes if you want to protect your investment, spend the money on a good radio. I wasn't expecting top end performance for the price I paid, but as a hand off radio to let someone drive an rc, it'd be fine.

I set it up in the redcat rally... the built in failsafe is just the throttle but worked with different positions before turning off the radio. I had some glitching then the low battery alarm came on (cheap dollar store aa's). I put some rechargeables in and the glitch was gone.

I played with the abs braking and you can set the width, pulse, time, delay, and area it engages etc. pretty neat. never have I used it but had to play with it...

Now to do some range tests and then driving tests

I got some flak on the local forum for not supporting the lhs, but I plan on buying a Flux from their shop, and buying a Nutech from Vancouver Hobbies, (just bought my Redcat too). Only local shop that carries parts for what I run is Vancouver Hobbies, so it's hard to support them unless I buy something they support lol

I have also offered to drop the radio off to my Tech Guru to do some real tests. I hope he takes me up on it

For now I am going to say hold off on getting one. I have been in contact with the shop about some issues... one, can't bind the radio to any of the extra rx's. tried it on 3 now...

and it's glitching really bad in the rally. I haven't even started the car with it and won't. when I flip the steering around and use throttle and brake. it kind of failsafes, throttle servo locks in position and won't go back to neutral until I stop moving things... I can see a runaway for sure

I sent an email, they responded right away. I made some vids to show the problem and waiting for them to decide what to do

I also hooked the radio up with the usb cable and did a calibrate on a game controller. it worked fine turning left, but turning right it hit the end of calibration then jumped to the left. it came back to the right side after it got about 3/4... so I think the radio needs replacing.

Be interesting to find out what they plan to do.

They replied within 2 hrs, I sent some videos of what was happening.

with the 5th scale the throttle servo was sticking in positions if I whipped the steering around, not a useable feature. I am pulling the rx out today to try in something else (I was building my Ofna Hyper10 last night.... and on 3s it's friggin insane lol)

allready got one problem figured. I got the old version rx's for the radio without built in failsafe... these won't bind... so am going to swap radios and be done with it.. I don't need a failsafe for this radio.

he replies fast for sure.

They have offered to exchange radios for me no problem, but I transferred the stuff from the rally to my ofna and found while playing in the menus the ARC. this does throttle and brake curves. the curves were set all wack, causing my steering glitch. I reset throttle and steering and so far testing with an rx pack and a digi servo I am getting no glitch. just trying a second servo now before I connect the esc

Is this a one off or are there RX's and TX just crap ?......the last thing you need is any problems with them.....it could be a very expensive short cut.

I found the problem for that in the radio. it has 5 point throttle curves like you'd use for say a heli in setting a pitch curve... it's an odd feature for a car radio anyway but some people might want to edit the way their throttle and brakes are applied... anyway

the curve was setup so when turning right, after about 3/4 it started going left to eventually 100%. that was straining the servo and going into failsafe.

I have that same setup in my ofna now and works fine. both steering and throttle curves in both models were way out. causing odd things to happen. I have tested it now with one digital, then added an analog, and now run it in my brushless truck. it's 3 am so no time to go range test it.

so now it's a matter of swapping rx's for the proper ones. and having to go through every model to the ARC and change throttle curves and steering curves to a linear setting. so far I am a lot happier than I was a couple hrs ago... I'll use my spektrum with the gassers. I'll try it again back in the rally but packing it in for the night. I have errands to run tomorrow (got a Nutech to pay for so it ships out hehe. it has it's own 2.4, dirtbike has it's own, got 3 on spektrum, so just have to use this radio on a couple electrics and my 7th scale)

I still can't understand how a factory setting could have such odd curves LOL.. had me baffled. this is a new version of the same radio but it has a built in failsafe. another name is fly sky, which is made by some big plane company (name eludes me). It's a newer model but they have been incl radios with their planes and helis for some time now. I think it's going to work out. I am in contact with them over this issue and they have contacted tech. future models will probably have a model reset too and a more useable stock profile...

Well that sounds like good news all round.....will be interesting to see if it works well out in the field.

So the radio works fine now on the one rx. I have the option of either getting the module for these extra rx's, which is in stock, and I will have to swap the module to use the other rx's. Or I send the rx's back in and they will ship me replacements for the new type module as soon as they get them. We have emailed back and forth about 5 times now. very good response time I have to say and easy to deal with.

so it's turning out to be a more positive situation that it seemed at first
