I am considering to buy a cpi pipe for my Mt, ( not the big bore for hpi ) but the one that is designed for redcat rampage. The problem is I did not see it in actual mounted on the rampage. My concern is I don't want any cut out from the side of the mt body like what I did on my side dom. Cut out on the bed of the mt body is ok but not on the side. Does any body of you tried or have an idea of using the proline desert rat body on the rampage with the cpi pipe installed? Does it make enough clearance from the pipe without cut out or having melted by the pipe? Any body can post a picture is very much appreciated. Thank you very much.

I don't know about the desert rat body but what i can tell you is the stock mt body with my cpi pipe i burnt a hole right through the top of the body where the pipe is at its highest point. Outsside of that I like my CPI pipe.

Thanks for the reply, are you still using that stock body this time?

What about the side part of the body where the pipe exits, did you cut a portion of it? or the body just fits perfectly. Can you do me a favor by posting some pictures of your truck with that stock body? Thank you again!

Although you can see the pipe that great, I have some pics in my gallery ...

You only have to trim the bumper area a bit and use some heat shield in the middle top of the bed (near the rear window) or just cut a small hole there after it melts a tiny bit...(Trickle007's solution)

Thanks for the idea, where can I find your gallery? what's the link?

I made another roof for the rollcage and flipped the stock one around so it cover the part of the CPI pipe that sticks up. Then I cut a couple of slits in the body so that when it is put on the frame it moves up where it makes contact with the roof. Should note that I also lowered posts so the body would sit down lower and moved the body back about a half an inch with some spacers. Also tooks some lexan and reinforced the top of the truck bed. As luck would have it I didn't reinforce the rear end/tail gate area. A few forward summersalts after a jump in the cold on christmas and the rear body mount snapped off and it took the tail gate area with it. Was using a small bungy to hold the rear body down for a while. Otherwise the cpi pipe was under the body and I didn't need to cut any part of the rear out for clearance for the end of the pipe.

Not real good photos of the lexan roof and the stock one reversed. THe lower left hand pictures show it best how the stock roof hangs out over the CPI pipe protecting the body. I added an access hole in the new roof so I could get to the spark plug with out removing the roof to do so.

One picture is the underside of the bed where I shoe glued some lexan on for reinforcement. The other pictures are of the slits I made in the body for it to sit down farther on the frame and ride on the alum roof so it would burn a big hole in it. I didn't want to cut a big hole in the truck bed.

The cuts to the bed and back window are not that noticable from a distance or at 15mph. lol Actaully unless your at the right angle it is pretty hard to notice.
