Hi guys pretty new to 1/5 scale so bare with me and My Frustration at this current time .

Got the Truck a Few weeks back proper break in and Overal Truck "WAS" pretty solid .last night took it out and had Trouble from the Get go. Keep in mind have only had about 6-7 tanks through it and havE not touched any of the needles as truck was running fine . Well i started it up and started my Dilema !! It ran good for a few min then a noticed it started Accelerating itself little by little . After a good 10-15 min of that it started Bogging down. This kept on for about a full tank ..... Longggg story short after giving up on Tinkering with it i saw the little filter(forgot the name) thats inside the gas tank loose , as loose and wobbling around . So today i took truck apart and Now as soon as u start its litteraly like almost WOT (wide open throttle) what do i do ???

So Far

Checked and Changed the Spark Plug

Checked the Gas Cap , (just Snugged it did not Over tight it as recommended)

Checked with my buddys gas cap

Touched the High and Low speed needles

Pulled out the Carb inspected it (not much) and Tighten it

Drifferent Gas Mixtures (93octane 25-1) 89octane25-1

Also i have been getting a BURNT smell since last night , im assuming its due to the truck being pretty close WOT and not moving !

At WOT it sould be moving

If it's not moving it would mean the clutch could be slipping which would explain the burning smell

Have you checked the set screws on the gear plate shafts?

What I would do:

1. Check throttle servo. Is it in the correct position? Does it go all the way back & forward? You can check this with the engine off.

2. Check throttle lever on the carb. Maybe it got stuck?

3. Remove air filter and check carb butterfly.

4. As Phill says, engine at high rpm and car not moving most likely means clutch. I guess it's possible you burnt-out the clutch by idling at an RPM close to the clutch engage RPM (6000 for the stock clutch). This would keep on slipping the clutch. 10-15 minutes of that as you said you did would be more than enough to finish it up. (not to mention get it extremely hot).

5. Maybe disconnect engine from drivetrain until you figure out what's causing the engine to rev?

6. After fixing the issue (and probably replacing the clutch), make sure the wheels are not turning while idling with the wheels in the air. If they do, turn down the idle by turning the idle screw counter-clockwise.

Probably the throttle servo crapped out.there is no warning it just happens unplug the servo and see if it idles if it does its the servo just make sure the horn is centered before starting.

servos and zero settings good start to look ..."something loose" definitely want chase that out.

the increase in speed(motor) is air leak ...like intake loose...bogging as in it will not take throttle is too rich

or could fuel clog somewhere where it'll start but runs a few seconds shuts off

Good Morning guys !

Ok unfortunately I had done most of the above .

Checked Servo

Checked carb to see if it was stuck

Reason why truck doesn't take off in its own , is cause i have it on the tailgate of my truck being held. If i put it down it Will take off .

Last night i checked

Head bolts

Intake manifold

And they were tight

..

clutch may be flywheeling, will the bell move independent of drivetrain? would almost be impossible to start. really far off probabilty but check rollage

if low needle is closed all the way it will have super hi idle. close and open to initail setting.

Fuel pickup issue could also cause high idle and should bog down when accelerating

Fuel pickup ?? Meaning???!!
Basically the same thing phreerider said. Having a very lean mixture will cause revs to go up. Similar to what happens when running out of fuel, idle revs go up. I'm guessing the same could happen if the fuel line was partially blocked.

Look to see if you have a pebble wedged near the idle screw
He said the took the carb off and checked it, so that's unlikely

A fuel pickup issue will not let it run ... If the line is restricting flow it will simply die from lack of fuel at a higher rpm when the need is in demand..if a small rock is wedged under the throttle at the idle screw it will keep the rpms opened up and very easy to over look.

When the truck is running and it starts to bogg and act up...is the primer bulb still around 3/4 full of gas? Check all set screws on the gear squares and reset the carb to recommended settings

Well guys after 2days of None stop Frustration , numerous Websites and Giving up HOPE . Even thought about running it over with my Work truck a few times . End up being the Fuel Clunker . Few hours ago i said let me change the line and i did and just drop them in the tank . WaLaaaa !! Runa like a champ . So that got solved but on the other hand 1 of my steering servos called it quits ......

Any sugestions for what to do about the clunker ? Order another one or is there a better one??

Thanks For All the HelpFull suggestions , GREATLY APPRECIATED

I have the same issue with WOT. Although I don't believe this is my problem since it is new, I would like to eliminate the easy fixes. Can you just pop off the gas tank grommet and reinstall or is there a hidden gotcha?
