OK guys I just bought a rampage yesterday and now I see theirs a V2 out. Whats the difference in the 2? And is their a way to upgrade the outdrive cups. In 15 minutes of starting it for the first time I lost 2 dog bone pins and the rear outdrive cup busted in half.

Suppose I was a 15 yr old kid who saved all summer to buy this thing, so now no more money. And bought it because it was what I could afford so now I gotta go buy a torch and buy upgrades JUST to be able to drive it for more than 15 minutes. It's not just knowledgeable guys like you guys who buy these anymore. I am not a 15 yr old kid and been in this hobby for more than 15 yrs. Just sucks I know kids who do buy these and now wish they saved up more to get something that they could drive for alot longer on their cash without having to tool on it down to the last nut and bolt just to do so. Thanks guy for the info though I will go through the list and get er dun!

Your point about the 15 year old kid with no money is not a good one. 5th scale is the wrong hobby for kids with 'no money' who need to save all summer to buy a used model; these things break, period. From MCD to FG to HPI baja to Redcat to the cheapest pos clone, you will always need at least 1.5 to 2G to get started and have a few spare parts for breakage.

All good points from you moo, but I must say that all 5th scales are not 'bulletproof'.

True, the problems from the factory should be addressed, but my 5T broke plenty of diff cups as well before I spend over $100 for turtle cups, plus the pinion bolt broke 4 - 5 times, i finally gave up and spent $200 for turtle clutch system. (And my 5T cost me $1200, not $700 like the rampage)

I also 'stripped down' my 5T and rebuilt it, and you know what? The diff was completely dry! I'm 100% sure that HPI quality control is miles ahead of HSP but both trucks are assembled in Asia and nothing is perfect.

As for the support, I have to agree, I found an entire catalogue of new alloy parts but it seems there is a reluctance to bring these to the north american market; phatdad gave up on us, python tried with ti turnbuckles and an engine mount but things must be really slow for them to not bother with us. Only innovators like you and a few others here make me enjoy these trucks, and also Rob for the forum.

Well i am on the 10 th tank in my tt and have no ear plugs in my cups nor did i heat treat them they are still going strong. Now as for the rear shocks, hit a jump about 3 feet in the grass and snaped one rear shock:) and bent the other one in a u so i guess things are kinda good for out of the box so far!!

Gotta love that POS FG diff case. It's a joke. Those things have been out for years and the solution is to go with waaayyyy over priced alloy diffs. A viscous diff should not cost $340. You can buy a Rampage TT roller for $50 more with 2 viscous diffs in it already.

Moo you are 100% right, you never used the words "bullet proof" I apologize. I just want the OP to understand that this hobby (1/5th scale) is not cheap no matter what, and the fact that redcats cost the same or even less the 1/8th scale in some cases, that he/she should look at it from a glass half full perspective.
