Here are a couple pics of the piggy backs that I'm puttin on my MT... They are quite a bit beefier than the vvc/hd shocks (all alum) and the springs look tough as nails... the vvc/hds fronts are 13 coil, these are 18 coil!

Got my FLM shock towers today! I was ready to make some new holes in the stock towers to mount these, even had the drill out...but they actually mounted using existing holes!! Granted, not exactly as they were intended, but it'll work.

Granted, not exactly as they were intended, but it'll work. They raise the shocks a pretty good amount. More so in the back because I flipped the adjusting arms to gain an extra 1/4 or 3/8 of an inch.

Once I got the shocks mounted though, it became obvious that I need much thicker oil. The holes in the RC4WD dampers are bigger than the vvc/hds that I bought, so the same oil just aint gonna cut it. The rear end bounces like hell from a 1 foot drop, so I'm afraid to drive it 'til I get thicker oil...

I had to move the lights, but I think they actualy work better where they are now...I also cut the front bumper down to a skid plate... Next thing is gonna be some frame braces and some nylon limiting straps.

Next week is spring break, so I'll be driving the S@#$ out of it. I'll try to get some better vids this time

That thing looks like the bionic Manpage! I bet when you take that to the LHS their eyes are gonna bug out. That should annoy the HPI guys. The closer you mount shocks to straight up and down the thinner the oil feels which is good for more of a monster truck feel. The more angled they are the more progressive they become which is more for buggies and truggies.

I can rebuild it, I have the technology!

I didn't know that the angle of the shocks made a difference, but I guess it makes sense. I still think I'm gonna go thicker, it just seems awfully bouncy. I'm liking the extra range of motion on the longer shocks, but I think the bounce will make it hard to controll on uneven ground and really squirrely on jumps.

Got a chance to try out the new shocks today...after I made some nylon limiting straps from an old dog's leash. They're kinda goofy looking, but they get the job done.

The extra bounce wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be, these things soaked up my uneven gravel driveway like it was smooth pavement. made a few small jumps and the landings were nice. Think I might not go with thicker oil after all.

The shocks were great, but I had put some dark soul sring perches on to lengthen the spring at rest since I put hemi risers on... well... they are about 2mm shorter than the stock ones which is good, but they are concave on the inside instead of flat.

So, after a hard landing from a jump one of the rear shocks jammed shut 'cause the bottom of the shaft wedged itself in the spring perch. Other than that, I am very pleased with the shocks!

Dog leash! Genius! I've been looking for the right sized piece of strapping for that... All I had were tie-downs. too big.

Hey, they may look goofy but they do have a dog bone one em! Glad to hear the shocks are working well! They look great!

First Post.... :)

I used the same FLM shock tower but installed it a bit different to take the stress off the lower shock mount even without the Hemi Risers, i haven't bent or broke a shock end since it's been installed.
