Hiya fellas
I thought you people would be interested in something I've done to my MT tyres.I noticed when I pressed on a lug in the tyre it was pretty stiff so I took a Dremel to it and cut slots in the inner lugs. Now when pressing on the lugs they collapse alot easier than the none cut ones.
The turning is now alot better than stock.I've put a picture up to show the finished.

I seen that done on Fg slicks...to make it a rain tire....
same as trip said for 1/1 tires on real cars.......
nice tip tho....should make for a little flex in the tread for little more grip....

Yeah CSP a dremel with a grinding disc, bloody messy job though.Used to cut them when we done the rallies(1-1 cars) Trip.Done the rears aswell ,theres a bit more traction too!

I remember doing that with damp track conditions at the drags... Siping works on real cars, but it kills the longevity of the tire... I think it would work quite well with the scale cars, not nearly as much force on our tires/cars...

I cut rain grooves in my motocyce rear tire with a tire groover. It is basically a hopped up soldering iron with a blade in it which cuts through the rubber like a hot knife through butter. One might be able to use a soldering gun with a blade to cut the grooves instead of a cutoff wheel. It should be less messy. Boyd

I siped tires for crawling with a dremmel, once... what a friggin mess. I hope you were wearing a mask. It makes them so much more flexible though. Looks good. are you going to inner and outer?

I used side cutters once too and I think I still have the blister scars lol

No,I'm not doing the outer side as I run 2 degrees negative camber on the back and one degree in the front so most of the grip is inner. Also the outers get loads of stick when cornering so I'll leave them uncut. It does make a hell of a difference though.
