got the cash saved up, iv never owned a 1/5th scale, at first i wanted a hpi baja, then i looked into king motor for a cheaper route, then i found the redcat rampage and im very interested. im just curious what you all think? i haven't decided between the xt and xb, but what can i expect to fix or repair, or are there any common issues? almost everyone says get a killer for it, outerwear for filter and pullstart, and mesh to keep grass out the crank...am i on the right page so far? im looking at ordering in a week or 2, i just don't wanna have $600 saved up to order toy, get it, and have a few common things go wrong i could have known about ahead of time... i apologize if this is confusing at all, im just trying to prepare ahead of time...i really want 1/5th scale and think redcat seems easiest to work on and simple design...cant afford $2,000 on a 5ive t or baja or anything else... any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Your off to a good start! I have all rampages minus the xsx. A killer bee is a must! The throttle servo should get tossed.and upgrade to at least a hitec 645. Outerwears are a great idea along with a Hpi baja filter as stock isn't good. The first thing to give out on all x series is the wheel bearings. You could go the cheaper route and get better bearings for it but with the small bearing size you could expect them to give out as well. The best option and the route most go is the 7075rc bearing.holders front and rear they are aluminum and hold bigger bearings. Check out 7075akes awsome hop ups for the redcats. Other then that after that is all said and done you will have a kick ass 1/5th scale that will be very reliable and after needed upgrades and a nice pipe you will be less then a baja! That's why I got so many of them! Best of luck to whatever you choose and above all have fun!

I too have the xb and xt +1 on the above mentioned up grades. The foams wear out right away. The 7075rc stuff is superb. When you break in your engine use regular 2 cycle oil not synthetic. The reason is so the ring will seat faster. After the first gallon you can use synthetic 2 cycle oil and your good to go. Have fun with whatever you choose.

We have 2 MT's and 2 XT's now. I purposely grabbed another XT because of trying to keep one up and running at all times. One of our MT's had a bad plug from the factory, but other than that it comes down to doing pre-run maintenance. The Throttle servo locked up in the idle position on both of our MT's. One locked up during the first tank of fuel, and the other during the second tank. I really would suggest grabbing another throttle servo. We purchased Hi-tecs for 40$ each.

Carbs were off on the MT's from the get go. They were bad enough where they would not even start, but that was really easy to set, with the high speed at 1 1/2 turn and Low at 1 1/4 turn. Double check all key bolts such as exhaust, carb, engine mount. Loctite really will save you allot of grief down the road. Double check the gearing and hit those screws with loctite as well.

These vehicles are a great amount of fun, and even more fun when you get friends and family involved. I wish you the best with your purchase.

Expect Bills, Fans and serious enemies - people who 'detest the noise and smell', but you don't give a toss, 'cause you're enjoying it so much.

A little 'diplomacy and respect' (this is mutual don't forget) is required.

Enjoy it, but give those who may not be such fans a chance to continue life in boredom - A BIT!!
