I'd like to change the rear toe in. Looking at the Hostile one piece carriers on the 5b, I think they'll fit on the arms, and the bearings are the same size, 24x12X6.

Might even be able to use HPI axles. No adapters would be needed then.

Has anyone tried this?

Saw those on their site thought they were great. Hostile must have bored the inserts diagonal to to the arm bores??Just having the them off center would only affect camber. It is hard to tell from the pictures. Just measured the width of the opening in a new rear arm and came up with 33.9 mm. Pin diameter is 6mm. Will have a 5b and 5bflux to measure later today and will post. Am running an MT on a dirt oval in a buggy configuration and had actually welded in the pin bores at the outboard end of alum lowers and re-drilled at a slight front to rear angle to afford the change. If they'll fit, I could use these pieces. Great Idea Chief.

Now I see............ HPI offers a range of inserts to effect the change.... DA

Should of looked that one up. They are using this on the SC line and 5b flux also.

So I can check it out in-debth today.

I just put a set of 2 degree hubs on the 5b, didn't even think about this till later. To use HPI hubs the axle would have to be modified, or new ones made with dogbones on both ends. If someone started making some I'd be one of the first to order some. But I think the stock hubs would work with these.

Haven't had any problems with the stock axles and hubs, but I don't have that much run time with the new FM torque build engine yet. It's probably pushing the limits of the drivetrain. I did put in aluminum mounts when I rebuilt the center diff, not much else is available right now for Dune Runners.

Cheif......Here is a 5b rear hub installed on a MT, with a stock MT 135 mm cvd axle shaft, and stock MT 23 mm wheel adapter in place. What did it take to get to this point? ..... well just put it on. To complete would require adjusting the top link to fit the upper arms on the Hostile piece. Might have to shorten the top links a bit, not sure without the Hostile Hub in hand. This stock HPI plastic hub piece interferes with the outboard cross bar on the MT control arm, however the Alum Hostile Hub appears to be a little slimmer in that area and may clear. Could install type 24 mm adapters and be able to run those size wheels.I switch my MT's back and forth depending on what I am running them on. Hostile is out of stock but did see their hub on DDM's site. Attached also is a pic of the stock HPI toe adjustable hub carrier.Hope this helps a bit.

That's cool.

I've never broke a rear hub, but that's a cool option as there are plenty of Baja hubs to choose from.

I think this is cool. Now that I know the stock axles fit the 5b hub, in my next parts order from DDM there will be a set of the Hostile 2 degree hubs. I agree, the upper links will likely need to be shortened a bit. And the heim joint on the upper arm looks like it will fit as it is, without spacers, in the hub.

Thanks a ton!

Here is how the Hostile fixed bearing carriers look mounted on a 5b. I also used the Hostile Heim joint on the upper arm. Note how much the upper part of the carrier is angled and lengthened to clear the rim of a 5b and keep the correct geometry.

Until I try them on the Dunerunner I won't know, but just "perhaps" using the 5b threaded arm rod, and the Hostile Heim joint, there won't be a need to shorten the stock upper arm rod. The threaded rod here is bottomed in the Heim fitting, and close to that in the upper arm. Dunerunner/MT arms are longer then the 5b arms, so, we'll see.

These are not the stock 5b lower arms, for those who might of noticed. Phatdad. No E clips on the pivot pins, Kraken screw pins.

I HATE E clips. Lost ANOTHER ONE today while I was removing it!
