DBXL 2.0 Receiver box temperature

I am running a DBXL 2.0 gasser with the stock engine muffler. As the receiver and battery boxes are close to the muffler, I was concerned about the temperature. I measured the temperature inside the receiver box with a Futaba temperature sensor and telemetry feature in my 10PX. The temperature reached about 70deg C during a regular run when the ambient was about 28deg C. I am still trying to find out the maximum operating temperature for the Futaba R404SBS Rx but I think that I need to install some form of heat reflector on or around the Rx and battery boxes. So far there are no signal glitches or receiver failure. Ideas and experiences on good and easy to install heat reflector highly appreciated! Thanks

i think you're over thinking or being over concerned with that 70c temp mate,
with 28c ambient that temp inside the battery box aint that bad,
also depends where you're taking the temp from, if its directly under the can inside the box then could be a false reading, or max reading of the battery box in that one area,
mount the rx either in the bottom of the box or on the furthest wall away from the hot spot and it should be fine,
i looked at pics of the 2.0 gasser and the can doesn't really look too close from what i can see,
if the temp does bother you do a bit of an experiment,
add some heat reflective tape on the battery box just below where the can is and take the temps again with the same ambient temps,
the rx will probably run at around 60-70c anyways, most electrical stuff runs around that temp when under load anyways,
heat rises so just do as above and mount the rx low or at furthest point away from the heat as you can (y)
 
@spents Thanks for your valuable inputs! OK, here's what I did. I placed a 1/2-inch thermal insulator on top of the battery/Rx box and strapped it down with velcro. I measured the peak temp inside the Rx box again with and without the insulator. The ambient was about 31degC. Peak temp was 71degC without insulator, and 64degC with insulator, a diff of about 7degC. I hesitated to use reflective heat tape due to my concern of the metallic layer attenuating the Rx signal. It is obvious that heat is also being transferred to the sides and the bottom surfaces of the box. I will try adding insulation to the sides later and measure again.

you're welcome rajul (y) ,
i still say don't worry too much about the 71c temps, but i do get where you're coming from with the concern about it,
all you can do is do the best you can to insulate against it if it really does worry you,
as for the reflective tape, quite a few of us use the haric full alloy battery/rx box on the vekta, so the rx is encased in alloy on all sides,
as long as the rx antenna is outside the box its fine,
i have no signal/range issues at all using a full alloy battery box, and i've never of anyone else having issues so far,
so heat reflective tape on your dbxl box i wouldnt have thought would cause any problems (y)(y),
