OK guys I'm getting a new radio/controler this week.
Question- Sometimes I run my buggy right after it's rained or a day or two after we had a down poor.
Does anyone run a waterproff/waterresistant receiver in there 1/5 for safety. Why I ask is about a month ago I ran my buggy into some deep water receiver stop working.
Also what about servos??????
Is it worth the $$$$$

What we use to do on receivers to help make them water resistant is put them in a balloon and put a zip tie where the wires come out at the end of the balloon. Then after a day of running take the balloon off so if there is any moister in it they can air dry.

Correct me if I am wrong but I do not think any one makes water proof RX and servos just water resistant. What RX you buy will have to do with what radio you are running. As far as servos what do you have for a budget?

Well I was going to spend about $400 this week but now I can only get a controler and receiver.
Next month I will get the new sevors and pipe!
So about $150 to $160
What is the best controler?
Should i get a water resistant receiver and get that specktrum controler for 59 or 69 from large scale.

What ever set up you get make sure it works with a remote kill switch. All so keep in mind not all RX (receivers) work with all transmitters (TX). I recommend a minimum of 3 channels. In my opinion and experience there is no substitution for a good radio set up.

A remote kill switch? Who makes a good one? How many channels do you need for a fail safe and remote kill switch?
How hard are they to install?
I will pick one up with the radio gear this week.

In my opinion a remote kill switch is mandatory for a 25 to 40 pound RC car as it is a BIG liability if you have a run away not counting the damage to your car. Killer RC makes great products and Kent's customer service is all so very good. Here is link to his web site and check out his FAQ page as it has most if not all the answers to questions you may have. All so on the FAQ page there is a link to what Killer Bee kill switch will work with what radio. There are some radios will not work with any kill switch. He all so has a forum for his products. I know DDM and Large Scale.com sells his products.

Sorry I have not keep up with radios systems in the past couple of years. I have a React that has been discontinued but working well so I am content with what I have. So I am not the best to ask about radios.

Thanks for the info!
Found video on u tube on on what u said with. The ballon and. Also saw this stuff call plastic dip and spray to water proff. Servo's

I would not say water proof I would say water resistant. No matter what you do to them I would not recommend submersing them in water.

Ok guys thanks to the local hobby store found out the batterypack is good.
I went ahead and upgraded the radio and receiver today. DX3C(SPEKTRUM)
Got it in and hooked up works ok did not get a good test run yet.
As I was testing and had to reverse the steering servo, the other went up in smoke LOL!
Got a new throttle servo now and I will upgrade the other in a few weeks!!

I think it's made by great planes(hobbieco) metal gear. No not let on the romote kill switch. Not use to the controller trying to get the failsafe to work right. I have to read over the instructions some more. I'm going to have to get a peak charger now and a new battery. I can tell when my battery is getting weak but I have no way to run it all the way down. I will need that remote kill switch could order it this week!

Read this about the difference between a kill switch and a fail safe. A fail safe is not good enough alone. A 25 to 35 pound RC vehicle during a runaway is a BIG liability not counting the damage to your RC vehicle.

A failsafe is certainly a good thing to have, and I recommend that you use a failsafe. The more protection, the better. But a failsafe alone is just not good enough. With a failsafe you still have many loopholes that can cause a runaway. The receiver can fail, the battery can die, the servo can go bad, the throttle linkage can bind or become loose, the carburetor can freeze. In those instances a failsafe will not stop your 30 pound large scale R/C vehicle from running away and causing major damage. When you add a Killer Bee kill switch you have a “watchdog” that will not let your engine run unless it senses that there is a good radio signal at all times. You can also manually kill your engine at any time if you see that something is wrong with your R/C. It is also very convenient to have a kill switch for engine tuning, checking spark plug color at high RPMs. And it’s just nice to be able to pull your R/C into the pit and kill the engine via the transmitter, and not have to reach down and press the kill button.

10 4 I will be getting one just need to get the fail safe to go the right way!
Remote kill switch and steering servo is next on my list!
Learning process!

Had a run away today! (failsafe)
I see in this hobby electronics first then looks(wheels, tires, body, paint)!
So I will also need a peak charger I want my battery to last and be fully charge when I go to run it!

Sorry to hear about your run away. If you would have had a kill switch if the battery drops too much voltage the kill switch will cut your motor off. My TX tells my RX battery voltage and it drops too much and my kill switch does not cut in my TX goes to beeping and vibrating.

Yeah I was in my yard!
Like I said next on the list kill switch bigger battery and servo peak charger!
Thinking about going to get the charger Monday!

Question on the stock servo throttle are most servo arms the same size or do they change/different size with each servo?
Keep have throttle stick and it looks like the arm is not catching the servo everytime. It will drive fine, then I will hit the brake and then give it gas and then let off and it like its slipping or geting caught on my air filter????

The new sevo came with new arms/other parts.
