Well today i ruined my own fun by leaving my transmitter in the bumper of my truck on the way to the local park. I have a pretty stock electronics on my Chimera and was looking for a point in the right direction. Wanting something besides the factory redcat transmitter. Is there something particular that I need to make sure my replacement has? Any info would rock!

You want 2.4GHz, obviously. And at least 3 channels. I've had good experiences with Futaba, Airtronics and Spektrum. Spektrum is kind of dismissed by others, but I've had great experiences with them. What's your budget?

as Deluge said, it all depends on budget. Transmitters range from 100$ to 650$

i suggest you get a 4 channel radio. if you have more than 1 truck, you can just get another receiver and bind to it.

you have brands like Futaba, Spektrum, Airtronics and K.O Propo (mostly used by Japanese). Some even use the brand FlySky (the cheapest) and are very happy with it.

they are expensive since some of the models have very low latency which means faster response (measured in milliseconds). very high speed matters if you are racing 10th scale electric onroad or 5th scale on road.

you'll have LCD Screen, over 50 model memories on some radios, Servo Reverse, Throttle and Brake dual rate, End Point adjustment, Servo Speed Adjustment, Anti Lock braking system and Digital trimming. these are the basics that you should look for and im sure each brand has them

you can check here for the latest models/prices with brands:

Awesome thanks for the insight guys. I will be getting a 4 channel for sure. I've had Futaba radio systems in a few of the nitro cars I've had and didn't have any issues. I have had plenty of issues with the hexfly servos on all my redcat toys. Are the steering servos hexfly as well on the 5th scales?

For the servos, i recommend you changing them for something more reliable.

Either hitec or savox. Ofcourse your servos will perform faster if you install lipo 2s battery.

Although 6v is fine, some people like to have upper edge.

Better getting HV servos from the start since they will also run on 6v. You might wanna change ur mind later on.

Savox 0235 for steering

Hitec 7954 for throttle

Before looking into the FlySky systems, I know some of them have issues with some of the settings, like expo. I don't know if they've cleared those up at all.

X2! I decided to give this brand (IT4) a shot and regret it. In hindsight, should have went Airtronics or Futaba. Have owned both and they are tops!

I now have a brand new Flysky IT4 as a paperweight/doorstop........
