which one should i buy or a fg modelsport or a redcat i want something 4x4 that will do wheelies that i can jump and not brake very easy and i want something the can put a two speed in. thanks lefnut

well. since the fg is the only 2 speed available then your stuck with that. the fg's are pretty durable but they drive like bricks. the redcat is a great rig and with a few upgrades it is bullit proof.. you wont get wheelies from a 4wd becouse of the power transfer. plus it goet old real quick. there is also a huge price diffrence between the 2 models. im not sure but i think the fg 4wd goes for about $2000.00 compared to the redcat wich is $759.. i would personly take a recat over an fg any day of the week. fg's may be faster, but my redcat will do circles around it

the new plastic fg rtr 4x4 is a little over a grand but fg parts are expensive.
kryps right you wont get much in the way of wheelies like you do nitro though I'm yet to see a 4x4 fg comp with a hot motor in it as fg trucks are wheelie machines in 2wd.
As far as handling fg trucks may not be the best but my 2wd fgbaja handles like a dream and I know the fg 4x4 comp baja also handles superbly and due to it's lighter weight would beat a rampage tt round a track with little difficulty but costs 4 times more, I'd say the new rtr 4x4 wont handle as well with the red shocks though...
however i also have a rampage mt and believe it will smoke an fg 4wd truck around a track, they slide round corners rather than roll over...very stable and fast as hell with ported 28'5 and a good pipe. I can personally testify that the ramp mt jumps real good and is tough as ol' boots.
I'd say for your first 1/5 scale you'd be happier with a rampage. They do need a little work out the box but parts are cheap and readily available, for more rampage info check out redcat rampage forum.

Stock FG M/T with a pipe will wheelie for days, but as was mentioned, it is 2wd. I don't believe I have EVER seen a 4wd 1/5 scale wheelie on a holeshot... If you want wheelies buy an FG... If you want stability buy and FG 4wd or a Redcat.. But the Redcat is ALOT less punchy/quick. A 2wd FG will climb hills and go anywhere a nitro can go... And then some!

The Redcat will need better servos, a radio, a big bore kit and a pipe... The stock servos are ok for a bit.

The FG (Non RTR) Will need servos, a radio and a pipe..

The FG RTR will need a pipe..

Like I said, if you want wheelies, you can't go wrong with an FG. If you want to dominate a track, go with a Redcat..

I own an FG but I like them both for different reasons...
Let us know what you decide, or ask any questions you may have..

Trip..

I've seen an FG Comp 4x4 wheelie, but it was powered by Lipos :D Depends what you fancy, the fun factor of a 2WD or something a bit more serious like a 4WD.

I'd like an FG Comp 4WD, but enjoy the grin factor my 2WD MT give me...specially when it runs into Super654 :D lol

(joke buddy ;))

I was just going to say that!:clown:

What is your budget? There is a huge difference between the pricing.
The Rampage is a lot wider and makes it more stable in turning.

Where are you located for parts replacement that is another thing to consider.

Like bigger the better said, you may want to inquire as to what is available or can be obtained from your local hobby shops, and online dealers. Take your time and weigh the pros and cons for what you need or want. I am a diehard FG Fan and driver since 1993 when I lived in Europe. But now I live in the states and Europe has increased their prices for us in the US, which makes parts more expensive for myself (not that I destroy my vehicles, just upgrades and spares needed). Just make sure you have a place or hobbyshop that has good customer support and can easily get the parts you need without a big run around. And of course you have a lot of great people here in the forum that are willing to help out, and most of the time offer good advice.
