Here is Gas Jocky's old rampage pipe I tried to make it usable again. First I cut out the old header and kept the flange. I then welded a USA made 1" dia tube that I bent all to fit around the shock tower. Then after rewelding the expansion chamber to my new header I fitted a piece of the old header to make the exit. This makes it 1" dia header and .625" exit which is a great combo for big bore and stroked motors.
 
Looking good there Sprint, you must be handy and it appears you have a lot of fancy tools. Well done. Maybe Redcat will buy the pattent for the pipe design. Personally I don't like cutting the bodies up to fit a pipe, that style eliminates having to do that.
 
I am hoping GasJockey will be so kind to wait another couple days so I can get this design entered into a Solidworks Drawing so I can mod some more for others. I have a HPI SS pipe I am going to mod the same way. With the expansion chamber mid band stretched to give little more bottom to mid range.


I am going to mod more if you all want to get some use out of those China cr#$%p exhaust pipes.

Patent (them China factories) won't buy what they will just take anyways, but they will never get the metalurgy quality of the 3003 H4 series aluminum tube I put into the header, they wouldn't even know what that was.
Thanks for the compliments guys and yes I am a aircraft fabricator so equipment and skills they say I do have.
 
I can make a HPI SS pipe have a lot more bottom end than it does stock. I did one for MoFroggy and Sattheman , There won't be no Guinea pig to it they make power. I am going to have to keep one soon because getting to get my truck together finally but if you find a HPI SS pipe PM me and we can get something planned out. Thanks for the compliments.
 
I tested one of Sprint's modded HPI pipes and it was friggin awesome!!! Ya did another great job on the Redcat pipe Sprint. Have you done anything more with your own pipe?

Yes that is the pipe, check the forums on HPI BAJA and look for used one. I can fix most dents as I got it cut apart. The header mod I did before is $20 the mod like in this thread will be more let me dwell on my notes and get back with you. Thanks for your interest I will PM you
 
Just scored a used hpi pipe for $50canadian inc shipping from Clayton the owner of vertigo performance...he's up island from be by about 1 1/2 hrs....


now i have to try and order the oneills 28.5 ported kit without the wife seeing:cool:


Soon as i get my pipe it it'll be on it's way to Texas for some double 7 treatment:D

Glad you all seemed to like the placement. I am going to work on seeing about getting a aluminum spinning shop to build me some deflector and defusser cones. Or get a bulk rate on some boat expansion pipes to be able to build these from scratch in the future.

The pipe fits under the mt chassis...no cutting...... Performance was/is AWESOME!!!

Thanks hellya I am glad your getting good use and performance out of your converted pipe I did for you. Have you looked at my roll cage thread? Rob has one on his truck and posted some pics of it too. Mine will allows you to run a tall irridium style plug if you want and has mounts for side nerf bars that are coming next. you can see them in process in the upper pics on this thread.
 
I have to admit, that is a slick mod and I've seen it perform on youtube, and i reckon you could fab up some alloy struts from the roll bar to the shock tower as a brace...i don't think i'd trust a clone ddm pipe to perform as well so will just wait...if i spent $300 on a pipe i couldn't afford to get the top end i want right now with 2 teenage kids to buy for for xmas:eek: wife takes a little smoothing too, last couple of months I've dropped close to $3K on my fg and the new rampage. I'm gonna try the hpi mod and if i want more then in the new year i'll weigh up my other options.....I still need hpi adapters, fg adapters and another set of paddles too...it never ends:D which is good or I'd get bored.
 
The SS mod will be a good performer for the $$ and it should be worth what you have in it to the next newcomer when you decide to upgrade. We might have to get a pipe recycling thing going on,


Remember that guys I don't have to have a prfect HPI SS pipe it can be bent or smashed a little , it will look brand new when I am done, Just get a good deal on them from the forum or EBAY
