What is the benefit of that hardware?

The stock intake is plastic and warps because of the heat, causing air leaks.

Got the Velocity Stack & HPI Air filter installed. Few questions. The inner filter was oiled from the factory, do I need to oil the outer, or does it stay dry?

The outer doesn't need to be oiled. You will love your pipe. Loud as hell though!

It's already soked in oil, there isn't much difference when washing it with soap to be honest. Either way, I'm happy to wash it for a few extra minutes if it keeps my engine a little cleaner inside

Yeah the grease helps a lot. I've been doing that for years now.

Which grease specifically?

Anything you have. It just seals the end. I use Ball joint grease, since it's in my grease gun.
