Hi Guys, my stock Redcat 2.4 receiver went up in smoke. Bought new battery, switch, and receiver (rx). Put it all together, did the bind with tx. Everything looked good. Throttle was just fine. Turned wheels to the right and then back to left. Noticed steering servo under battery box did nothing.

Then (you guessed it) receiver went up in smoke and wires got real hot.

If the servo is shorted I believe that is what is causing receiver to go bad.

So should I replace the stock E2010 with Redcat stock servo's or upgrade?

Who make a better replacement servo that bolts right in, no mod's?

So much has broken lately would like to build it a little more reliable. :(

we are using the hitec 805bb for steering and hitec 645mg for throttle you have to modifiy the steering servo mount with any servo

Sorry to hear that mike. Had the same issues here with my MT. 2 805MGs worked well in it. I went down to one for a TT Roller I bought but it does not seem to have enough oomph for it. I am investigating that now.

Check the gears. One day, I turned the receiver on and both steering servos went crazy and the receiver was hot. I turned the battery off to find out that the gears inside the servo were stripped. That could be the problem if you have no movement in the servo, it might not be shorted out. If you have the servo out, smell it. If it smells like burnt metal and plastic then it's probably shorted out, but taking it out is the only way to tell.

MTMIKE - Sorry to hear that but I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only one having these same issues...I order 2 XT's Rampage...My first XT the steering servo, throttle servo, receiver and failsafe all went up in smoke 15mins of test driving it...Last week my other XT steering servo went up in smoke, so now I have two XT's down...I been working with Redcat "Billy" and in the process of getting my replacements...So far, customer service has been great...They shipped my first XT replacements and should be getting it shortly...Now I just have to send my other steering servo back to Redcat for testing and replacement...

Looks like a few people is having the same issue, so I will need to upgrade and use my replacement parts as backup...

I think this thread was about aftermarket servos that bolt into a mt? With that being said yes their are many options.... A few questions..

#1.what model is it going in mt,tt, xt, xb?

#2.do you have dual or single servo steering?

#3.do you want somthing that bolts in? Or mod/make your own mounts?

I have a version 2 mt with one hitec 805bb (upgraded to 805mg) and the aluminum futaba mount bolts right up no cutting, grindig, or drilling, heres my thread about servo options.... check it out it has some good info to help you out.......

I have a stock Rampage MT v3 (26 cc) engine with dual steering servo's. Looking for something that does not need to be modified. If it does just hope it comes with good instructions.

I guess if the Redcat stock componets are weak would like to go ahead and upgrade servo's, throttle servo, battery, receiver and transmitter. Too bad someone does not have a complete kit that is easy to install.
