Is there a 'how to' anywhere on here or any threads for re-filling shocks to ensure they are not over / under filled?

Fill them to the top and screw the top on,you should be able to push the piston all the way in and it will come out slowly of its own accord. If you cant get the piston all, the way down after filling it you have put too much in. Use 2000WT for your car Andy.

Make the shock up....pull the shaft down then fill it up with the oil, to almost to the top, then SLOWLY pump the shock up and down to remove the bubbles.
Forgot that bit.

Thanks mate. I got 2k oil so will attack them tonight!
I need to get my act together & get out more so making sure everything tip top. Got to get the new bathroom fitted & finished over next few weeks then its play time :w00t:

the way i do it is refill the shock and sit them in a 500ml coke bottle top till the bubbles are all out fg recommend that you push the rod in till around 5mm of the piston rod is visable and then screw the top on for standard fg shock where as the ones on the new leopard you don't you screw it up with the piston out

What I do is based on the way Traxxas and others used to say.
After changing O-rings, wetting them with the oil you're going to use, SLOWLY feed in the piston taking care not to rip the O-ring.
Once the piston is in pour in a little more oil, then pull the shaft to place the piston at the bottom.
Half - 2/3 fill the shock with oil and slowly pump the piston up and down, ensuring it remains inside the oil, then pull to the bottom.
With NO cap on, fill to near the top and leave to ensure all bubbles surface and disappear.
Repeat the SLOW pumping and leave upright to permit all bubbles to surface - should only be very few.
Now, replace the cap LOOSELY and push the rod all of the way in. If you've an Evo shock, it will have a 'bleed hole' and some oil may come out - don't worry, and wipe this.
Tighten slightly and repeat this.
Now tighten fully.
Most official sites state that there should be no rebound, but similarly there should be no slop.
Shock filled and ready for action.

I found this which is easy to follow

Another 1 I found said just put a 3rd oil in then push the shaft in a few times to release the air. The 3rd oil is so the air escapes to the surface quicker which makes sense.

The shocks are done now and what a difference :D The old oil was like treacle so not in good shape. I was going to take a pic but only remembered as I was dumping the oil in the bin. Cant wait to get out & give it a run now :w00t:

Hell ya, gives you something to listen to as well. I just added some yamaha nearfield monitors to my man cave but the altecs have a sub and that works good ;)

thought about that when I saw this tool sold for shaking air bubbles out of shocks. wtf do I need a special tool for? I've got 7 speakers on the desk LOL
