Remote Controlled or Radio Controlled?

Many call their TX a controller or a remote. But technically remote control denotes a wired control box.

Yep, well aware of this mate. We're all guilty of calling things by names that don't apply. Like if I'd call a certain young lad a genius, I'd be pretty far off the mark and most everyone here will see the humor and know exactly whom I speak of and also see the deep rooted sarcasm. (Cough name rhymes with junky )

I did not realize most people (even here) did not know that??????? Yes, HUGE difference from RF, and IR. (as well, for those not in the know, one is line of sight 5 feet to Meh 100 feet, other is length of transmission, hence 100+ feet, or 3,000+ miles) (well, once you add in a (relay; say a sputnik) then, yes more than 250,000 miles+)

Perhaps, I am old.......

No one builds transistor radios or ever dabbled with a home made ham set.(never finished it) so no most don't understand the difference in the transmissions that are flying through the air.

Sorry Sean, (not word police) but I think you meant most. not "moat". Unless you of course meant it is a moot point, meaning most have no clue what we are talking about. (again, perhaps just me, being 'older'). But yeah, ham radio in the late 70's and even into early 80's was a HUGE thing for A LOT of people, compared to internet (today). It was the bigger your phallic (I mean antenna, the better) Heck, I remember reaching china and japan, were a HUGE thing... for an amateur.. ham radio operator. It was like a new year, 4th of July, and your birthday all wrapped in one.

Fixed, should have been most lol. Yeah I never got my license, but had an uncle that was really into it. Was very interesting the people he could talk to in different country's.
