Its on my list of things to get and I know it makes sense to run 1 of these but was wondering how many like me don't have 1 and are just running a fail safe? In another thread somebody commented that they wouldn't run at all without one but I am sure I am not alone here.

i have one with one without. they comein handy, especially on a run away. but 2.4 has eliminated alot of the common run aways, but their are still quirks, fried servos, jammed linkages ect.

i find i really use mine alot for tuning. when im making my runs, i just get to the RPM i want to check, run it for 15 to 20 seconds and kill the motor. go to it, pull the plug and i know im getting a True reading as it quite fireing when i shut the motor down.

ive only needed the kill switch once so far in an emergency (stuck throtle) but have used it 100s of times for tuning.

remember guys in england you can get a modified pico switch

with a remote bright l.e.d from Jack contact him direct at

[email protected]

jack is the guy that sells them on ebay but if you go direct he will

sell you less the ebay fee......just mention Keith :clown:

I only use a fail safe with my Mcd baja, an had no trouble.but there is plenty of room for linkages servos and other componants... but it seems they work best for differnt models...I.E. if servos are close together , where the throttle is, and if the linkages run close to other stuff i may get hooked up.....

a failsafe won't protect against a battery going dead, becoming unhooked or a broken wire... or a servo going bad... I was tuning up and testing a baja for someone outside my house... pulled in the driveway and the carb got stuck open... had to repair the neighbours garage door. haven't run without a kill switch since. it can happen fast. $30 kill switch or a $400 garage door repair... hmmm tough choice

a wipe out/tumble, bent throttle linkage, a puddle kills a servo.

I run one mostly because I have previously had a nitro runaway, despite having a failsafe fitted. All becuse some dumbass didn't turn the rx on when starting the engine. 300m and crawling under a razor wire secutity fence later, I had it back. I can't do that if I have a kill switch on a gasser.

My personal opinion is that if racing (i.e. marshals etc close to cars running at full speed) it's a safety must. If bashing, then it's more of a convinience and insurance against a runaway (I doubt that anyone runs their large scale in crowded public places, so less of a safety issue, but like piepe says, a runaway can still be costly)

Now youve put it like that,I may invest.......

I have three running them and one not. Just reciently found I could run a new style on a used channel. Is that right? My MT has 3 channels and one is for steering, one for ft brakes, and the 3rd is for rear brakes and throttle.

i didn't run one andy i ran with just the normal fail safe that knocks the throttle off when you loose signal :nono::nono: and it took off at full throttle and hit somethin which left me with a £200 repair bill :nono::nono: so for £35 i'd get rid of the fail safe and get one of the switches that trebor mentioned!!!!

I got one and the fooker still doesn't work propery! It was off jackrc from fleebay and i did mail him my number and he said he wqould get back to me, that was three-four weeks ago!!!! Its installed on my KM and works great if you hit the third channel aux switch but if it goes out of range, tranny off or mis given signal it doesn't worl. A little pissed off to say the least after spending that much on a lemon!
Beware who you buy off people.

Killer Bee do 1 now that you can add to a 'used' channel for 2ch sets or a 3ch set up where all 3 are in use :cool2:

They don't sound too good then. I know they are a bit more but I think I will get a Killer Bee version

Im no fool to wiring things up but I think this is messed up a bit.As Renbar said ,two wires are not complicated and what it says in the advert is not what you receive.
I'll try him again and if theres no joy then I'll put a despute in with Paypal.
