I had a runaway recently where the screw came out of the throttle servo & the linkage jammed wide open resulting in a a coming together with a BFO rock  Fortunately it landed on its back but the engine wouldnt kill so Hyperpete kindly burnt his hands blocking the exhaust
The initial damage was:
Front tyre bubbled on rim
attachment.php

Broken front upright
attachment.php

Bent chassis (straight edge along chassis from back to front)
attachment.php

Bolt sheared in front bumper
attachment.php

New screw required for throttle servo
attachment.php

I posted this in another thread but thought I would stick it in the right section;)

Worked on it last night & when I stripped it down I found more front end damage:
The screws holding the front shock mount were ripped out
The socket hd screw through the front ally brace was banana'd
The kick up at the front of the chassis was bent up causing the damage to the above screw & the screw hole in the ally brace was about 15mm out when I took it off & it was unstressed.

know the feeling mate ,i keep findind more broken bits from my roll last sunday up to 70quids worth of bits and bobs at mo,,just when i had my engine wo,s sorted i crash it

Got the screw for my servo today. They are like rocking horse shite......
Next I am tackling the dreaded grub screws to take the shaft & wheel square off my broken front up right. I have managed to borrow a mini gas soldering iron like this........

I've had a load of these Andy.Heat it up for about 20-30 sec's and make sure you have a good allen key, they'll fly out.Any probs with the build bring it down and we can do it here(Ooo-errr:rolleyes:)

Oh,are you on alloy drives or steel.

Alloy drives mate. Does it make a difference?

You should consider installing a kilswitch, you could of turned off the transmitter killing the engine to minimize the damage.

It wouldnt even kill with the switch on the engine mate so I doubt remote switch would have worked either. I will be looking into this problem as part of the rebuild.

Yes mate ,less time for alloy.Where did you get the servo screws from. Are they Allen or posi/flat?

Hmm,I know what your on about, but if Pete had to quosh the engine by blocking the pipe then you have a fail in the shut off switch(as if you didnt know)
Check the tightness on the coil terminals where the cut-off switch connects.
J.
If not ,install a new switch(Maplin...85p) and get a killswitch on ya third channel.

They were like rocking horse shite to find. The are Hitec originals (posi's) ref PN55802 for a pck of 10. Servo Shop sell em for £1.50 but I found a place called Fast Lad Performance in Barnsley who do the same for £0.49 & I was working in Barnsley today so picked em up  They have a good set up there but its geared up for helis.
