i was wondering if i could have your opinions on replacing the original plastic gears on my carson attack? the larger of the two plastic gears has lost a few teeth and they also look a little worn out. i have looked about and can find some plastic ones but also have the options of coloured alloy gears that look very bling (not sure they would after a good run though!) and also some solid steel ones that i have been offered for £35.00 plus £2.50 p&p. im sort of swinging towards the steel option as they look super heavy duty and also don't have the dreaded grub screws as they fit to the flats of the shafts and are installed with washers and e-clips which seems the best option to me? are they a worthwile upgrade option?

I don't know your 'ride', but certainly all appear to permit the motor to be moved, which effectively adjuects the 'mesh' of the gears - must take care it's straight and the 'layshaft' gears - again don't know yours - are fine.
Al.

Metal gears are just fine. You will not be able to adjust the mesh between the gears but you can adjust them back and forth with washers.
The layshaft and diff gears are adjustable.
