Is it ok to have some black oil resedue/exhaust on the body? Or am I running to rich?

The truck seems to run real well. The exhaust port is real close to the body though. You can see where I scratched off some of the oily resedue.

You will get that if your running a orcganic oil. You ever get a chance try Amsoil Sabre professional that is all I run you will swear you picked up the can with no oil out of the garage because it just doesn't smoke at all. Great stuff and when I blew a gasket a month ago in baja my motor was spotless inside no resedue went right back together with new gasket and off and running again.

sprints right try a different oil if you get tired of it

its better for all that slobber to be out then in though

nah, that seems fine. if you want to check to see how your running just pull the plug. it should be a dark chocalate color. if its kinda grey your lean.

yeah, I pulled the plug its choc brown color. Thanks guys

This body will probly be broken in half tomorrow after I'm done running it. Time for a desert rat body. Finally the rain has stopped and we have some sun!

I also run the Amsoil Dominator, and it doesn't smoke at all either.

Kdfi how do you like that pipe? Still have not run mine yet.
I love the pipe. I didn't care for the looks at first but I got use to it and don't mind it now. It's a HUGE step up from the stock can. I was thinking about the 28.5 kit but I am really happy with this trucks low and top end now. I know we all agree on one thing, It's true this truck needs hopups from stock to have a fun no breakage day like i did today. I was really frustrated with this truck at first but love it now with the upgrades I did. (HPI Filter, Baja SS HD shocks, pipe, hitec throt servo, and rampage upgrade kit).I knew the body wouldn't last. Time for a desert rat now for sure. Take a look at what happend today. By the way anyone gave the desert rat body a good run? How's it holding up?body 001.webp

Hey pirana

I bought a set of HD SS front shocks and installed on the rear. I took the stock Rampage REAR casings and installed the front HPI SS front shock inserts only. The bottom spring/cap retainer at the end of the threaded shaft barely touches the lower A-arms. This doesn't seem to effect performance.

I get impatient sometimes, and I just couldn't wait for Phat dads on back order, even if they are a better shock. I am really happy with the HPI's plus the parts for the shocks are everywhere. I can get you the part numbers if you want. I can't afford two cars so down time is not an option for me.

use some hot glue and shoe gloo on that body. it'll keep ya going till you get a fresh one..

shoe goo (or goop) and drywall fibre tape does wonders... mine split and looked like the japanese flag at the front body posts after a roll over

Thanks kdfi, yeah the SS shocks are 6mm so I would hope they hold up better and I have a 5B shock shaft 105mm x 4mm in the right rear so yeah the lower mount hits but not bad. Hey that bird looks familiar....is it a 50 or a 90 ........90??? :D
