Went to tax my Mazda today after it passed its MOT test (with flying colours!) and the girl behind the post orifce counter said ,"it might be a little more as we have had changes made"
£261 for 6 months tax as oppose to £250 last year!!!:mad::mad:
The government must think because you own a decent car you must be loaded (or your name must be Keith:rolleyes:)

don't mate ive got mot and tax end of this month its depressing mot I don't mind road tax leaves a bitter taste I mean what do I get nowt potholes that ruin my mk1 golfs wheels petrol I can hardly afford rip off Britain,,this all makes it harder to mod my fg's just the tax and mot is hydros for the bug or more oddie goodies for both cars im piss off now lol

Shame really.
'Real enthusiasts' are hammered, idiots just steal them anyway.
The long-term idea is understandable, but not everyone wants to drive a Prius, nor can afford one, with a V8 tuned 'small block' Cobra in the garage for weekends ..... would certainly make looking forward to weekends interesting again!!

Road tax pisses me off. Such as the focus diesel mentioned above why is that less damaging to the roads than a focus st or your mazda? Road tax is supposed to be used to maintain the roads so ALL road users should put their hand in their pocket and pay a flat rate for small medium or large car size whether petrol diesel hybrid or electric. The rest of the tax can then be taken through fuel as obviously the focus diesel is more efficient so more environmentally friendly and cheaper to run and that is where the saving on running costs should come from.

I'm paying £170 for a little 02 1.25ltr Fiesta that does about 800 miles a year...why should i pay more than 5 times the amount of a new motor with the driver doing 12000 a year...i think the Tax should be added to fuel as that way the more you use the roads the more tax to upkeep them should be plus if you want to have big high powered motors that drink fuel then thats your choice...

plus why do these benefit cars pay nowt, they get a new car then they should pay to keep it on the road...

agreed mate im building a old amc jeep pick up running a amc 360 ci 6.0l v8 @3-5 miles per gallon oh and this ones being tuned 4 barrel eldbrook carb and inlet manifold,,headman headers and ac cobra style pipes going up the cabs rear bulkhead hoping for @300-350 odd bhp and its bonnet is shoulder height

Ya gotta do your part to support the big government and all the moochers that live off of it. The takers will soon outnumber the makers.

not to mention the non gdp adding, money sapping government union jobs...here in BC they earn 12% more than private sector + all the sick days, benefits etc etc...and they are 100% less productive than the private sector...and they think they have it bad...go figure..we still have government owned power, ferries, auto insurance, then a gazillion other departments...it seems they already out number people here with real jobs who have to actually earn their money..
