went out bashing on sunday with hyperpete, was watching pete getting some air with his buggy, don,t do a lot of jumping myself but the red mist sorter took over:clown: got a biggish run up and next thing my buggy was airborn with a perfect landing more luk than skill i think, cos my next four atempts were bad even blowing a front shock, got home and took the shock to bits and found the e clip under the plunger had snaped easy fix refilled it with some 15w andput it back on, but now that one shocker feels overdamped, took it apart again and can,t find nowt up with it ?????? ,

hi mate did you put to much oil in as this can make it like that as ive done it myself in the past it may only need a couple less drops

in my manual it shows were to fill the shocks up to i,ve allways followed that and had no problems, i,ll take a bit out later and see how its feels, nice one

it aint a garantee but ive over filled mine a couple of times and you can push the shaft 3/4 of the way in then it goes mega stiff i redone mine the other day and modified the alloy piston upgrade to fit the standard shafts now when i push the shaft in it returns all the way out just like a real car damper does but it took a couple of atempts to get the amount of oil just wright look up the tread i posted fg 20mm fat shock mod very happy with the results massive difference

yea mate was good fun, found my shock fault the hyper adjust valve in the shock piston had turn,d round, can anyone shed any light on this gizmo in baja shocks ??????????

I find the best way to fill shocks is to.....

1.fill it
2.pump bubbles out
3.fully compress shaft
4.then cap it

You will never blow a seal this way since there will be no pressure when compressed.....slight vacuum instead when fully extended.

If your shocks are capped with the shaft fully extended......and have a hard landing you could blow the Orings straight out the bottom of the shock!!

Or worse....turn your shaft into a banana.(Your shock shaft that is:clown:)

My mate banana'd his shaft last yr after 10 mins of being out. He had changed the weight of oil so this must have been cause. Im just about to do mine so the timing of this is impeccable :clown::clown:

Yup, sounds like you skipped number 3. You will always have spill out when screwing it back together, even filling it to the proper level.
