Having bought a new Yama Buggy just recently, which I am pleased with (apart from the wheel hub issue) on these models, I have been looking at the HPI Baja 5B and the cheaper clones of this model. A genuine HPI Baja was out of the question, due to the price, so I decided to look at the cheaper options of the KM and Rovan models.

Out of the two, I think that the Rovan comes out tops as far as I can see. There are quite a few different spec models for both the KM and Rovan, depending on how much you are willing to spend. There is a full alloy version of the Rovan with a 36 cc engine, but only this ships from the Rovan USA store, and the postage to the UK adds another £300 on top of the £800 + price tag for the model itself.

Then we come to the model in question, which is available in two different colour schemes. One model has Orange alloy parts/black nylon parts, and the other model comes with Apple Green alloy parts/white nylon parts. Both have the same 32.5 cc engine and all metal chrome plated roll cages and both come with alloy road wheels with all terrain tyres, plus a digital 3 channel led screen transmitter.

The UK price of these are £585 and are available from various sellers on Ebay with additional postage costs, approx £20 within the UK.

Here is my new Rovan Baja 5B in Apple Green Alloy Spec with White nylon wishbones etc. These are really made from strong nylon/pvc and are pretty thick as well. Just waiting for some decent weather to give it a run.

Enjoy the photos.

It looks great. If you have the opporunity to shoot some vid please bless us with it.

Yes I will certainly be making some videos later in the year, when the weather picks up and I have got a lot of clearing up to do in my workshop, as it is cluttered with junk and what not at the moment, so having to keep my two cars in the spare bedroom, until I can store them in my workshop. This and the Yama, are the first two models I have bought in this scale and I think it's time to get rid of all my smaller models and just concentrate with 1/5 scale. I am hooked with the shear size of these cars and I am looking forward to running them before long.
