I ordered from a VW dealer some that fit as CV boots. They fit nice and tight and I haven't had one tear yet, unlike the ones that came with my Carson ball drive unit:

I've also tested out the HPI Baja boots. They tore pretty quick.

DarkSoul I think makes some for the HPI Baja that are supposed to be heavier duty and are supposed to work with FG and MCD.

The HPI baja boots will not work on FG's or MCD's etc... even the darksoul ones. They are much bigger in diameter. For your MT running dogbones without covers is fine. I ran that way for over 4 years. There is a reason they did not come with them.

The Ball drives some models use need them since 3 5mm balls spin inside the cups. If dirt or stones get in there it wouldn't be a good thing. If a cup breaks then replace it, if it starts to wear groves then just move the cups around and then you have a fresh section. (unless you have reverse on it. :))

Thanks for you info..I am going too use boots that Hellya suggested for now the VW one's
and later order the Ball drive system..Thanks for your replies on this..AKA Slawhammer
