RUMOR MILL – HPI RACING BOUGHT BY TRAXXAS
So rc fans… the big “rumor” today is that Traxxas has bought HPI Racing. It hasn’t been a secret that HPI America and HPI Europe have been having a tough go at it the last couple of years, so it seemed inevitable that someone would come in and scoop them up, and according to the rumors that we are hearing, it sounds like that someone is Traxxas. Also from what we are hearing, that affects both HPI Europe and HPI America. We will post more as the details become more clear, until then, make sure and vote for your favorite Traxxas and HPI vehicles in our March Bashness Contest.

Well, I think it goes both ways. IMO HPI has done nothing but dig their own grave deeper with every model since the Savage Flux, but I think with Traxxas taking over, an HPI, or HPI-esque, 1/5 4wd gasser may actual be in the cards. As long as they build it like an HPI and market it like a Traxxas it would be a huge hit. Just imagine: 1/5 Traxxas Slayer. I'm sold. On the other hand, Traxxas could dismantle the brand, discontinue models like the Baja, Savage, Vorza, and RS4, and not replace them.

They were once popular, but taken a hit by several cheaper / newer brands stealing part of their share of the market, and the Baja being surpassed by the LOSI 5ive.
Combo I'm sure was the reasoning behind the selling of the company.
We can just hope that the new owners revive it & produce some new Awesome models, along with the same old reliable models from the past.

I would aswell, but I think HPI is about 5 years late for that build. Any Baja owner that wanted a 4x4, has already bought the 5ive.. Just sayin, prob not much market share left.
