Hi Guys. I have a Rampage 4X4 that all of a sudden started running away. Last week it ran away in the middle of a run and crashed into a fence post at full throttle. I was able to kill the motor with the Super Bee kill switch but it was too late. Yesterday it ran away as soon as I started it and crashed into a concrete block. Again, I was able to kill the motor with the kill switch...too late. I know, I need to think faster but I would like to solve the throttle problem instead. After the latest crash and I recovered the car, I noticed that the throttle servo was at full speed. When I turned everything back on, the throttle servo returned to it's neutral position and worked fine. Does anyone have any solutions? My wife won't let me run it again until its fixed. LOL but no joke. Thanks.

check all the connectors. the power switch on the radio box also. if you dare- its no biggie to do- remove the 2 screws that hold the recievercases together- open the cases halfs, look closely where the antenna wires are soldered to the printed circut board. even if this checks out o.k., put a little bit of shoe-goo on the case halfs where the antenna goes tru, then reassemble. it could be the wires inside the servo- they will break on ocassion- here is proof of this statement- in the blurred photo look @ the black wire-- yup- the kill switch is a good feature indeed---

My stock throttle servo would stick, I was going with a hi tec hs5645mg...

But couldn't wait for it to ship, I used a traxxas tra2070.

It's cheaper, but not metal geared, so far so good after a year...

My stock rx also had the ant wire come loose, and the killer b would shut it down after a big bump, [called it a bump stop].

$10 for a new rx, all better .

I am running a Futaba T3PRKA transmitter and receiver. Stock radio didn't give me enough range. I will check your suggestions. Do you have any other ideas? Can a servo act that way or are they either OK or NG?

It may just be the servo! I had a few Hitec HS-322HD servo's for my 10scale that I used for a spare throttle servo in a pinch and one of them did the same thing. It would work fine for a few seconds then go full on.

When the solder joints broke where the antenna connects to the rx board, the antenna wires slipped down into the recievers circutry. Lost all control including the kill switch. Just watched the xb screaming off down a football field, and hitting a concrete barracade @ about a 45 degree angle. Tru shi$ luck the high speed needle was set a little bit rich. As i said quite a while ago, no safety feature is 100%. I have seen full sized monster trucks go skitzoid and go into the bleachers on tv. Those all have a remote kill switch too. In my case, i should have taught Spank the dog to fetch the rouge xb--He can jog 12+ miles non stop behond the little Dodge d-50 truck- run like a bat outta hell too--- 1/2 wolf-1/2 Siberan Husky- its in his genes-- lol!!!

Rebind the TX/RX and leave the failsafe at neutral. Sounds like it might be kicking on. It'll go full throttle if you reversed the throttle channel at any point.

Its been a great little truck! Ever crawl under one of these? They have a fully boxed in frame. stiff! My little truck has the big verson of the 2 liter. not many around. It was overhauled by a guy that actually knew what he was doing-- When i bought it, I got rid of the jet valves, plugged the holes in the head with a kit i bought. Put a Weber 2 barrel on it- Pacesetter header- no cat- just a half blown out muffler-- Brace yer self- running non ethanol gas, @ 55 mph, it gets 50 mpg. no b.s. thats better than a hybred.- prius.ect. Driving it along the river road - desolated no traffic- just putting in 3 rd gear, stopping at the fishing holes- it gets even more mpg. I am a light footed driver- neither lug nor rev- just sorta float the engine on the sweet spot on the cam-- yea the 2nd barrel on the Weber has a counter weight- no dammed power valve like on 99% of american carbs- gas has been very spendy in spain for years- they know how to build a carb that sips gas but can still provide enough fuel at higher rpm--.

Thanks for all your help guys. Apparently the throttle servo was bad. I replaced it and ran it yesterday with no issues. Now I can go and have fun until the next thing breaks.
