Running without cowl for cooling fan

How important is it to run with the cooling fan cowl that wraps around the head?

I know it direct air around the cooling head but it takes ages to remove as I need to remove the pipe, rear suspension and rear roll cage just to get it off. Tired of it filling up with grass etc.

Do the mesh mod on the crankcase and the pullstart.
Or get some outerwares, mesh mod cheaper.
Best to leave head cover on!

yeah I thought about doing the mod but thought removing the cowl would be allot easier, only if running without the cowl didnt make a big difference but it sounds like it might.

u can do the mesh mod, that will help, however if u want to run with the cover off u can do that as well

This is what mine looks like,


The material is a piece of old flag,got plenty left over if you want some,
quite durable, breathes well, stuck on with superglue, works a treat!

Also note the cowling is trimmed back to just infront of the sparkplug,still directs air where it's meant to go but opens it up somewhat!
