Finally got some vid up on the TS reed motor for those who have been asking. Sorry for the poor quality. I'm not sure what's up with my camera.


I'm running speed pulleys equivilent to 35/25/25/25 gearing. I tried this on pavement and I might as well been on ice. I had to cut my lawn and run it in the back so I could get some some good traction with the bowties. You can see the bottom end still has alot of balls, even with the speed gearing. Anything other that this gearing, 33/27 for example, would blow the tires off the car. I'm pretty happy with the setup. The bottom end is great and the tall gearing is pushing me to 50 mph. I'm guessing on the 50 mph based off the fact that a local sheriff radared the HPI's on Saturday. Top speed on the fastest HPI was 48.1 mph and I'm slightly faster than that car. Acceleration to top speed is insanely fast.


Check out :47 seconds into the vid. I got two nice ruts well into the dirt on that one. Also, the engine is not even on the pipe yet. It gets alot louder once it winds up.

No clue, I've never run it with a stock motor. My car has also never seen gears on the main plate either. I can tell you that my old DS 27.2 marine setup would fall on it's face with the same gearing. I have about $600 into that engine too. An ONB Full Mod 30.5 does better but it will still bog on takeoff trying to run those gears. I have some custom pulleys that are not going to go into production to push the ratio to an equivilent of 37/23/25/25 gearing. I doubt this engine will bog at all. Nice job Demon. A lot of low end snot. Your on the verge of the whole package,the only thing it don`t do is wheelie.which is very difficult for 4wd.

Thats Friggin INSANE! so much bottom end, do you think that engine has enuff torque to drive a higher gear ratio and keep its punch like that?


i can see somthing with that much bottom end PWNING on a tarmac track! im intreeged!


is it the reed that gives it that distinct, lovly sound? or is it just camra sound quality making it sound like that? almost sounds like a nitro car =D

That's the point of these vids which is to show how the motor keeps all that low end punch on tall "speed" gearing that would normally bog an piston ported engine. My ONB Full Mod 30.5 in this car is just as fast but it bogs and accelerates to top speed much slower.

The first video picture and sound is messed up. I dunno what the deal was with the format conversion. The second video maintained the quality and that is almost exactly how the car sounds. That was the first thing I noticed when breaking the engine in. It has a different sound to it. It f'ing loud now. The pitch sounds almost exactly like the duel engine setup with duel jetpros if you've ever heard that. It's not quite as loud though. The duel engine setup is defintely an ear bleeder. We can be on the track with a dozen cars screaming around the track and when my buddy starts his 5T with the duel engine you will definitely know it.
