don't know bout that one my T1000 had a few screws, bolts, that stripped the allen wrench holes, rounded out, had to get better quality ones for a few spots, haven't had any with stripped threads tho, just rounded out allen holes, when using the wrench, pretty easily, mostly on the lil bitty ones with tiny allen wrench.

Did they round out because they were a weak metal? Did they seem to round out easier than those on name brand RC cars. ?

not sure why they rounded out, but the larger allen size ones have no issues, its just those lil small ones, if ya look at a small allen, it almost looks, not is, but looks round, the flats are smaller which may lead to rounding off od screw heads. i have had same issues with good grade bolts before, its just a thing you may have happen with the lil smaller sized allen screws, and that can be on anything not just the km bajas bolts.

I have a KM001 and i too have had the same issue with some of the smaller sized hex screws. Not a problem though just replaced them. I do think that KM would benefit from using torx instead of hex bolts i do prefer torx they just don't seem to round of as easy. All being said its not a problem and you cant go wrong with a KM in my eyes they are def great value for money and the newer models seem to be better quality than some of the earlier stuff going by what i have read on here i have not really had many issues with mine at all compared to what other people have encounterd with their models.

I have only had a few issues, but i think that was due to using the poor quality wrenches they send with the kit. In my opinion, the steel quality of the screws are good, just bad "fit" with wrenches that causes head stripping. I would suggest picking up a good metric driver set. I just picked up a screw kit from DDM as well. I am replacing the stockers with stainless as I do my upgrades. Here is a link to some nice wrenches.

see, i was using a good quality set of wrenches, i have not used the allens supplied, the allens are crap they supply, not a quality used metal for the allens sent with km. but still the small lil allen headed screws, would strip the allen heads out. soo, that being said, really when goin through it to service it, like checking that diff for oil, etc.. replace the small screws/bolts with better quality ones at that time. just take one with ya to hardware store and match it up to ones they have, the right thread pattern, size, length if possible, once in a while you may find they will have it but its just a tad longer, and none the exact same length but everything else on it is right, just get a couple nuts that thread on it, run then onto screw/bolt and use a dremel cutoff wheel to cut to length, and then run the nut off the bolt, the nut will recut that last thread ring of bolt/screw so it can be used. ive had to do similar on many things and it works just fine.

Thanks for the info man! My local hardware store carries alot of ss screws and bolts, so I will be changing them out.

haven't had any probs with the larger bolts/screws as long as you use a quality set of allens on them, its just the lil bitty screws/bolts that may strip the heads out you may wanna replace.

screws

no problems with my hpi 5b, or with screws which come with after market items. small allens tend to round easily, as stated above, due to the small flat surface. make sure the tool fits nice and snug. rounding might be due to a worn or poor fit. whether it's a king car, hpi or losi 5, they all come form the same place. maybe the same manufacturing facility. same warehouse, same distributor. who knows. i've never been to china to check it out. :)
