Ok. I've got to be crazy. I keep losing the horn screw on this servo. I'm pretty sure its M3. Can anyone verify? I even loctited the last one in and it came out.

I would pull the servo out and go to a hardware store or auto parts store that has a good nut and bolt selection and match one up. Even if its too long you could cut it. For 33 bucks you could probably get 100 of them...lol

I took it to work and checked it there. I don't know what it is but an m3.5 is typically a 0.6 pitch and its not that. I don't know what it is but maybe its a coarse thread or something. I found the kit at detroit performance so its on its way. I've also got a message out to the OEM to see what it is. If it is an m3.5x0.6 then the threads in this servo are mondo boogered and I'll need to chase them or rebuild the servo.

Had this issue with reefs beast 2000s. Turned into a bit of a nightmare.... this should work
Thanks. Book marked that too.

It would be REALLY strange for them to have a non standard pitch screw. My order from Detroit Performance will be here tomorrow and I'm going to take that screw to work and actually figure out what it is.

It's rare but for some reason l remember this from work....j.i.s ......Japanese industrial standard........threads are unique. It's like when a Philips head screw is not accepting a Philips head screwdriver, it's a j.i.s screw.....I'm sure you understand what I mean. As if a.s.e and metric, Allen head, torx, etc. aren't enough, they got to play with different thread types........engineers thinking they are smart....

I'll double check but I think thats only true for pipe threads.

Its really an interesting thing. At this point I'm not mad about it but absolutely intrigued.

With my patience I would have gotten out the drills and a tap set and made that thing the next " normal" size larger.

You mention JIS screws. That reminds me of " Reed and Prince" screws with a thinner drive and more of a point.

Don't forget posidrive either.

Forgot to post ...... got c.r.s, can't remember stuff.......The crap they come up with to keep us from fixing things never failed to amaze me. My favorite has to be the torx style with the tiny hole for security. Little shaft of metal in center of torx head that sticks out.....thought it was a rivet first time l saw one. Enterprise rent a wreck from new york to keep license plate from being removed!!!!

Yup , tamper proof torx. The guy driving around in the Snap On truck is about the only guy that likes this stuff.

Trust me. It crossed my mind.

The package was moved to tomorrow so I wont be able to mess with identifying it specifically until next week sometime.

There is ZERO chance its an m3.5 The kit came in today and its NOT correct. There isn't a path to an m3.5 fitting in this servo. its not 4-40 either.

There is no way its an m3 and I stripped it. I used a 2nm t handle when I put it in.

EDIT**** Just going to add to this comment instead of another post.

the minor diameter is 2.54mm per a gauge pin. Thats spot on for an m3. Theres ZERO path for a screw with a 2.9 nominal minor diameter. I still can't get a pitch for the hole, an m3 goes in but its just loose and the nogo on my gauge goes. I'm 100% confident I didn't wallow this thing out when I first built it.

I'm just going to rock the M3 and see what comes of it. If it keeps coming out I'm going to get the rebuild kit and rebuild it.

Dam, just lost what l wrote.....Anyway the reefs 1/ 5 scale kit is definitely fine thread. After going through this with my beast 2000s, which are supposed to be rebranded afgrcs l understand your issue. Looked at afg website and found more detailed information but no mention of thread pitch....l think l got mine from horizon or amain hobby.

Yeah it has to be an m3. 4-40 is smaller than the m3 and it is loose. Kind of irks me. This servo is such a nice unit for this to be a problem.

I'll be out with it all day tomorrow if I lose it again I'll possibly drill and tap it m4 or try a rebuild.

I think I'm wrong this is is reefs bolts.....2, 3 ,3.5......a regular 3 looks the same and a regular 3 nut goes right on.....don't have 3.5 nuts but the threads look the same as standard primal hardware...... baffled
