It's enraging for sure.This would drive me crazy so I feel the pain! I'm thinking it must be the new "alien standard." It's neither metric, standard or even J.I.S ....

My rovan is tighter than this. I'm just rolling with it for now. I've got a metric ass ton of SS and titanium screws in your m3-m6 sizes. so I'll just roll on.This got me thinking so I went and grabbed a brand new Rovan RS-2160D servo that I immediately pulled from a 360 LT truck and the 3mm screw it came with has wiggle while running it all the way down. Actually a whole lot more than I would have expected. I'm not saying by any means that this is a top quality servo but the screw size is 100% a 3mm and the treaded hole seems to be on the very loose side. I could see this screw backing out for sure if locktite wasn't used

There isn't a path to an m3.5 thread fitting this. The minor diameter, the smallest part of the thread pitch, is only 2.5mm. that's correct for an m3. It would need to be 2.9ish for an m3.5
All of agfrc's documentation says m3.5, but the hole and pitch from what I can tell are equal to an m3.
I ordered their kit, I bought several, and I tried a few precision screws from work, I then pinned the bore of the thread to check the minor and it's definitely what you'd expect from an m3 but it's blown almost like they used a single point turning tool and oversized the PD.
It's weird. But we can all be assured that it's m3
