i brought a second hand marder at the end of April always wanted one so i went for a 4wd i payed £300 i brought it for a bit of fun and now spent nearly £1000 in total :D some upgrades and some repairs i use my car as much as i can everyday. now ive rounded the rear 14t cog on the back diff side. im always repairing it after some hard bashing on a open field :D please share Ur secrets of reliability or is this how they all are :)

no mate it does get better lol

i had a good 2 years of shite from mine plastic hubs were a constant arse im on engine number 5 now engine 4 is still alive and lives in the on road which [touch wood] is still going strong ive had this servo that servo a few different handsets a few mega crashes which would have destroyed a stock marder ive bent chassis's but when its 100% working and flatout its all worth the shite till its home time and 2 hours of cleaning and fixing whats broken

agree with renbar simon......it does get good one day mate.....front hubs... i gone alloy on them, alloy engine mounts plus little mods on them for the nature of what i race....i remember first meeting i did with mine smashed bolt lug on crank casing....SH1T i thort lol.so like renbar and me say STICK WITH IT MATE.....

You might be meshing too tight.
As everyone on here will say like RENBAR,you will go through a stage when you get pissed off replacing things and it never seems to end....until.....:cup-1:
You hit on the right time when you have put most of the needed upgrades on (no blingy stuff) and the car is bullet proof!
My HPI/KM/Darksoul/FLM/Threshold/Proline/Fastlane/Turtle/Uber/Fasteddy...etc,Baja owes me about £2500.00 and NOW its bullet proof:cup-1::lol::lol::lol:

and never keep a total cost it would scare me if i knew what the bug has cost me over the last 3 odd years im thinking a bmw e36 m3 would have been cheaper

Have you ever shot it Voo to find out for sure :2guns:

The usual culprit for the layshaft gear (your 14T) stripping is the engine mounts coming loose. This causes the engine to move under hard acceleration and parts the mesh with the diff ring gear. Check the engine mounts are tight as part of your clean down & maintenance after every run, this is key to reliability. If you spend an hour cleaning & making sure everything is tight after each run you should have a reasonably reliable car even in std plastic form.

Sounds like you are on top of yours but you get some people whinging about how their car breaks on every outing but they don't bother giving it a little bit of TLC after each bash and eventually everything works loose and causes breakages, bash sessions to end early and frustration with the car.

Ive just converted 1 of mine to 4wd and its awesome, Im well impressed with it :cool2: How are you liking yours?
