So I just bought a used MT Pro from a guy who says all it needed was a new receiver, cause he spilled coffee on the previous one while cleaning the truck.. I bought the truck, put a new receiver in it, and as soon as you turn on the power the right steering servo starts a loud whining sound.. The truck ran fine for about 10 min. and then the new receiver went bad.. The truck does struggle to turn the wheels while standing still.. Would a bad servo fry the receiver? Or does anyone have any ideas.. Im new to the Redcat world, and haven't owned a rc car for quite some time, so any help is appreciated..

On another note, I was also told the steel transmission gears were new, but they were really noisy, just by moving the wheels around.. The truck ran about 3 min. before they completely stripped out... Is it normal to strip the steel gears, even if they've been on for awhile? Im pretty upset over the whole truck purchase.. I was lied to, and the seller has no interest in trying to make it right.. Thanks again , Jason

Servos whine when there is a load put on them and they are trying to center themselves out when not moving. To stop the whining adjust the linkage.

The MT Pro is a heavy beast. The stock steering servos will struggle at a stand still. Take off the servo horns, center the servos and put the horns back on and adjust the linkages from there. No two servos are the same, so they will whine a bit even after you've adjusted them.

Can you post some pics of the gears? That'll help us determine what the problem is.

thanks guys, I got the whine problem fixed.. I will post some pics of the gears tonight..

Any ideas on why Im am smoking receivers? I ran it today for 10 min with no problems...

Not sure how it would be killing the receiver. Do you have the right battery pack for it? Stock is a 5 cell hump pack 6.0 volt. If you ran it 10 minutes with no issues maybe its fixed.

Probably the servo issue you had.

I have had the same thing happen... turned out to be a bad spot in a servo and would draw a huge amount of power.. turn everything on and feel the wires going into the rec.. see what one gets hot by doing nothing... ..
