Hi,I am having a issue with my radio. It seems when I get about 20-30 feet away,my throttle servo starts going crazy. It is only the throttle servo and I have tried 2 seperate radio systems both with the same result.I changed the throttle servo to a Futaba and it still did it.The steering servo acts fine though.I'm stumped with this one.The second issue is the motor. When I first start it up it has tons of power now off the line and seems to run great. After a while of running it seems to lose low end power but still screams at the mid and high RPM range. If I let it sit for a while not running and then fire it back up,the low end comes back.Is there a temp that I can check with my nitro temp gun to see if it is getting too hot? What temps do these usually run at?Any help with these issues will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I can help you more with the radio, at least this sounds similar to the issues I was having with my Firehammer MT radio. I would get glitching constantly. My failsafe would kick the brakes on constantly. It's the radio system, I guarantee it. The best thing to do, is get a new radio..which undoubtedly is something you don't want to hear.....2.4 ghz system something like one of these:

I have this one:

It has 2 receivers and memory for 4 models, so if you ever buy a new rc, you can drop the other receiver in it and set your transmitter for another vehicle. (no large scale servos for steering are included with any of these)

Airtronics, heard nothing about good things about these, only 1 receiver.

Futaba, you really can't go wrong.

You may also want to get a failsafe sometime as well:

As for the motor, maybe the clutch is just getting hot and not biting like it should for the iinitial take off. I'm not expert on this at all, just a thought. I don't think there is really a "temp range' with these like with nitro.

Agree with CSO1971 about the radio.
For the engine try resisting your cad needles and retune.
Hope this will help.

I was having bogging after it got hot and all I had to do was open the low speed needle on hour and it fixed it. I also had a problem with the engine not fully opening up at high speed. I found taking off the silicon elbow made a huge difference for performance. Are you using regular battteries or NMH rechargables. Regular batteries won't cut it. I went to walmart and bought 5 good recharable batteries. I also had a problem with the throttle servo glitching when I took off. It turn out to be one of the batteries was half out of the holder and the vibrations when I hit the gas caused the same thing. If you are using the pack that came with the truck wrap it with electrical tape and cable ties to hold them in place. I am looking at getting a tuned pipe for it.

1st - All stock radios suck.:clown:

2nd - What does your plug look like? (Color)
What are your H & L needle setting set at?
Does your fuel tank have a vent line or vented cap?

One new problem you need to look at is the clunk filter in the fuel tank. On the weekend I lost power and I discovered I had dirt and sand in the carb. I checked inside the tank and discovered that the white filter material came off the clunk filter and it was sucking up sand and dirt from my tank. I found the filter material floating around in the tank.

Futaba, you really can't go wrong. Thanks CSP1971

I am about to purchase this radio to solve my radio issue. My carb settings are still at stock settings basically(whatever they are).I will have to check out the plug color and repost.I am running my fuel at 25:1.Should I go leaner?I also ride dirt bikes and have Golden Spectro 2 stroke oil.I run my bike at 50:1 ratio.Has anyone used this oil in a buggy before? My fuel tank has a vented line.I am using rechargeable batteries but was wondering if I could use a 7.4v 3800mah stick pack if I solder a connector on it?Will this fry my reciever?I am running a tuned pipe.I have a DDM Dominator pipe on it.It make a major difference. Thanks for all the help

Good choice for a radio!

I would stick with 25:1. and yes, the Golden Spectro should be just fine. I use Silkolene oil. No 7.4 volt battery, 6 volt max!

The ddm dominator is a helluva pipe! I put a beetle body on my Firehammer MT but didn't want to cut up the body yet, so I'm running an X-Can.

Here is the thread on engine tuning, check cyclops1970's post:

25:1 fuel mix. And 6Voltes max.
Could not open the like witch one is it?

Hi,I went ahead and ordered my Futaba 3PM today.I will be getting it on the 13th.Pretty excited since this is my first real radio .I've only had stock RTR radio's.What kind of range should I get with this?I only got 30 feet on the throttle servo with the stock radio.Junk.I need to build some sort of roll cage to protect the DDM pipe. It's a nice pipe but when you roll, you roll on the pipe. Not good.I already have a few good scratches on it.I waslooking at the Boost Bottles. Not nitrous but they are just called boost bottles.Anybody know if these are worth buying? They are $60 USD.Thanks

The only thing I have ever read in the forums about the boost bottles is that they are a waste of money and do little to nothing in the way of performance. The biggest boost for the money is a good pipe.
