I suppose it depends where you're running.
If you're running in a sandy, gritty, muddy area, then you need to protect the shocks from the build-up of grit on the shafts, that will damage the o-ring seals.
If the area's relatively clean, I prefer to leave the shocks open.

good i leave mine on all the time, only coz i,am lazy and don,t like cleaning shocks,

shock covers are great, i made my own some 5 years back using Neoprene (wetsuit material)... still got the same ones on now & ive only needed to clean my shocks about 3 times in 5years!.. but gunna make some more soon... cuz ones i have atm are black... now i want some red ones! \o/

Aye, you can use Bike Inner tubes or try this too, i've just got 2 sets.

I sent him an email asking his best price + postage and i got 3 different colours for $38usd (worked out at £9 per set posted).
you can see them on "My New Themes" thread on the site, you get plenty left over.

bmx innertubes are about the best, the ones on ebay may look good but i,ve seen people with them and they don,t last long i use a 1.9in bmx tube cost about 3quid and you,ll get 2 sets of covers .
