Whats up i have not posted in a while I sold my MT a couple weeks ago, and I got another one lol, but my ? is on both rigs I never check the shock caps to make sure they where tight from factory and one of them came loose and dumped all the oil out, what do you guy use for shock oil , I REALLY don't want to buy a 6 dollar small bottle form a hobby shop that only give u a small amount


Is there something i can pick up at the local hardware store or auto store thanks
 
What did you sell and what did you get? If youre looking on the cheap I have been told motorcycle fork oil works but I have not tried it myself. The wieghts are different though so who knows what weight you need? I have seen misc shock/diff oils on ebay. Sometimes you can get a bunch of misc weights in a lot real cheap. If you do that you can mix like 25+50 or whatever just make sure each shock gets the same mix.
 
Well baby oil will work. Might be a bit bouncy though. Motor oil, just about any oil will be fine for bashing. Id just make sure all 4 shocks had the same oil in it.
 
I used to run 90w lower unit oil in my old tmaxx it work great but the shocks did not have metal bodys on them so it cracked after a while, but i liked the way it drove with that thick oil, if I run a motor oil with weight do yaw run 10w 30 40 50,

30-40w should be sufficient
 
I use the six dollar oil myself. it allows for tuning of the shocks which is something the cats direly need if you are going to jump it. right now I am running 75 wt in the rear and 60 in the fronts. that settled the backside down a bunch. Will be picking up some 80wt and 85wt next if my budget allows.
 
In a constant rough terrain 85 would be too much. I run mostly track conditions and the jumps create a different issue which is rear kick but the heavier oils correct that. it does however have its own consiquences which one of them is the higher potential for bending a shock shaft or blowing a shock cap. The setup fastlane has should be great for general bashing. it will allow for the front end to tuck in corners giving sweet front end traction and allowing the rear to break loose to come around.

same here,sometimes 40/40,i don't now anybody using thicker than wt55 in 1/5 offroad
 
Sounds good Ill probley just get some 50w for rear and 40w in front thinks for the help, lol its kinda fun driving the MT with no oil in the rear socks it bounces all over the place
