hi cordy- how is the radio skip in your area? its been booming in at my QTH for weeks, cycle 24 has finnaly arrived! in the dead of winter? 10-11 meters? long skip too! About the XB.- I moved the front-rear lower shock mounts to the innerholes on the a-arms- cleaned the shocks with CRC electronic cleaner fron Wal-Mart, use Losi green slime on the seal pack- filled with Lucas-Associated 25 wt. zero preload front- 5mm rear. The XB has the stock springs. Sway bars add stiffness - this car is not on a track- its ran on a football field- track - wide open throttle 90% of the time- there is a rough steep bank on 1 side of the football field- this setup allows the car to absorb the holes-chatter bumps quickly- I run a Jetpro rear mount- The HPI blue front springs may be a good choice for the rear shocks on the xb. - any little change in setup affects -upsets the hole cars balance- suspension-diff fluid- ect- silicone is cheap- your results will vary.

forgot to say- I use GRP bulldog M-compound 4 fronts all-round, little bit taller than stock tires and a lot lighter than the split rims- 7075rc 1 nut adaptors. Its 18 degrees here-- the 25wt shock oil might as well be STP! Its time to go into the basement and hook up the Icom 718 and listen to skip from afar!! too cold to run the car.

Oh crap I haven't even turned my rig on,but glad to hear the bands are opening. Would`nt it be great if the boy`s across the pond that race or bash were hams and we could talk with them. My tower is cranked down but I could crank it up if need be.Ok on the oil,I have some 80,70,and 40 wt I could add if the shocks are low.The weather is turning cold here,I would freeze befor the xb warmed up.

yea Cordy, its -6c here freezing fog, but ground is as dry as a powder house-dust! Yea i am off topic as usual- -OK-rc.- I wonder how a large oven glove help to run in the cold-cut a little hole for the antenna- the oven mit would have to be big enough to fit the right hand to steer- saay- what do you rc-ers in Arizona think? ha-ha i suspect! As for tuning shocks in the cold- if the shock seals could accept non silicone fluid- Golden spectro cartrige fluid -its used for dirt bike forks-shock- very high V.I. index- this stuff stays the same no matter what the temp is- its thin-2.5 wt- or 7 wt- would require much smaller holes in the piston- but when it dialed in- the weather- temp would no longer be a factor for shock tuning with the eception of the o-rings becoming stiff from cold.
