what do i look for when browsing for more stiffer springs!?

at the mo im using FG stock ones, but want stiffer ones.. what indicates the stiffness? i looked on hobbythek & it says nothing in the descriptions about stiffness :s ?

except fopr colour! ..but im guessing thats just for the actual colour of the springs & nowt to do with the stiffness ?

just had another look, it does say in the description for each summit about 2.0 & 2.1 & 2.2 & so on... is this the stiffness?

Ring rossmods and tell them you have a problem with stiffness :w00t: They would probably recommend looking at Keith's marder for 10mins :lol:

ok sorted,

i ordered 100ml of 3000wt oil (guessing 100ml be enough to do 4 shocks?) & also 2.2 springs (think the stock ones are 2.0) so will see :)

Bigger the number, stiffer the spring.
Bigger the number, more viscous the oil.

Are you SURE you want stiffer springs and damping on an MT?

I thinned and softened right down as mine was way too stiff with 3500-4000 oil in, using reds and blues.
I'm on around 1500 all round and yellows I think - not next to the truck currently.
It's still bouncy, but riding better.
Mine could be related to using the MCD MT tyres with FG MT inserts.

They're mounted on alloy wheels, which I (reluctantly!!) drilled to permit compression and 'refill'.

hiya mate :)

aye atm i have 0 rebound, even when its just sitting on the floor, it sinks & stays put so hopefully stiffer springs & thicker oil do the trick :)

May be time for a 'full overhaul'.
Perhaps the shafts are semi-seized on dry/perished O-rings?
Time to replace the O-rings and clean out the inside of the shocks, then check the free movement of the pistons.

Top Tip: Soak any new O-rings in the oil you're going to use. This will permit easier insertion of the shaft (!!) - came off Radio Control Racer I think, but I'd already started that when I was having problems with the MSR6 shocks on my LST2.
Should permit you to avoid damaging the O-ring - which would cause a leak.
