hi you can go with 4 shocks but you need stronger springs and different shock oil your best bet is fg shocks for the (marder,baja) they are the same and should do the trick
 
I would say you could remove 4 out of the 8 shocks because with the 8 shocks there is very little movement in the suspension so they tend to bounce with the give in the tyres(not what you call good suspension)

I would also say the springs are the same strength as the marder/beetle springs so all i can say is suck it and see,you can always put them back on. :):):):):):)
 
Removal of 4 shocks will soften the ride but it will not be smart to jump in fear of bottoming out. The springs are your ride height and the oil is your dampening. Have you tried thinner oil in all four shocks? I would experiment with that if the 4 shock method doesn't work for you. You may want to try oil lower then 50 for a softer dampening?

I have tried 40 and its still hard for me I will remove 4 shocks and she how it goes thanks for your help.

I put some 30W oil in all my shocks this weekend and wow what a difference.
Got rid of the bounce, it handles so much better now, much more fun to drive :)
 
Its always going to be a bit of a compromise really.
If you are wanting to do big jumps without the car bottoming then you will need stiffer springs but then it will just bounce over the smaller stuff and not be very nice to drive.
Personally I prefer to have the shocks on the softer side so the car handles well and I just keep the jumping to the smaller stuff.
It all depends what you want from your car I guess.
