I`m elaborationg a bit with my suspension (different oils and springs) and I was thinking about how the Monster would cope with a singe shock setup (that is 4 shocks intead of 8 :) ) It seems like the suspensions is a bit sluggish due to some binding issues and I suppose this should be better with fewer shocks

Have anyone tried this with the stock shocks and if so, how did it work?

Some come with the 'larger bore' shocks, and one per corner.
4WD for example.
The thing is you must take care with the mounting, and also understand you'll be putting more stress on the singled shocks, per shock than they would have had if you kept them doubled.
Obviously you should put thicker oil and springs on to compensate for the extra load per shock unit.
Al.

i don't think it would cope very well with stock shock, i tried this ones and it seemed very sloppy.

i think if you upgraded to the alloy FG shocks which are larger capacity with the correct oil weight and springs it could work quite well, ive seen a pic of this done somwhere by a forum member but cant remember who to ask them what they think.

a few have done the single shock setup (removed 1 from each wheel) & those that have say it made there monster handle MUCH better & soak bumps much better as before hand they didnt like the stiffness, personally i haven't done it as im happy with the way mine handles, each to there own i guess :)

I have the MB Pro & theres also just the MB which came before the MB Pro (MT etc) ..all the MB Pro is & the MT/ST etc is a beefed up version of the original MB, extra 4 shocks & alloy side rails & roll bars, the rest is pretty much the same.

yeh theyre good shocks dude, the adv with them over the FG's is you can adjust them with ease :) although if you use shock socks will be a bit more fiddly!

but to be honest, unless your shocks are bust i wouldnt bother, ive had the FG stock shocks as long as ive had my MB Pro (5 years) although i have used shock socks to protect them (home made) they also have lasted 5 years & still going! my shocks still do the job perfectly, the stock FG monster are shocks are very good quality & strong unlike most stock shocks.

If i was you & wanted a 4 shock setup, id just remove 1 from each wheel & use thicker shock oil. Then use the money you would of spent on new shocks on summit else maybe :)

Thanks guys :)

As I see it I have two options. Either I stick with the stock shocks and buy thicker oil and stiffer springs, or I buy these shocks instead (see link below) They seem to have a very good price and according to those who have tested them they should be pretty good aswell.

Don't get these shocks mate that not that good, I had some once and sold them soon after, I then upgraded to the FG fatboy shocks which are much better, but if you want the best shocks then Elcon all the way mate, heres a little vid of my mates fg with the smaller fg alloy shocks on and only 4, it handels more like a buggy than a truck but does work well.

Ok...really appreciate your comments :)

The Elcon shocks looks really nice. A bit pricy though :( Can someone give me a link to FG:s Fatboy shocks also?

Can I use a single shock setup with both the Elcon and the FG Fatboy shocks?

what alloy pistion would fit them shocks and are they worth it?

also correct me if im wrong but the alloy shocks use smaller springs than the stock shocks?

when you say smaller springs do you mean dia or length:rolleyes:

the fat boy that are standard on the rear of the race version marder

are i think 21mm id ....the alloy shocks off touring cars that a lot of

people seem to use are a smaller dia spring:)

but the best shocks around are the elcon they use proper seals

K....
