Single Steering servo Question?

I have a Hitec D845wp for my steering. When its on the stand it steers back and forth just perfect. But, when i sit it on the floor and try to steer,...it barely turns? Iam still running with the stock remote and receiver with the 6V battery. Battery is also fully charged. I bought this truck new 6 years ago , ran it 20 mins and the dual steering servo's went to crap so, i bought new servo's for the throttle and steering . I havnt ran it yet because iam concerned about the steering issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Here are the servo's iam using for the throttle and steering. HiTec D845wp and HiTec D645mw .

I would not expect any servo to move the wheels just setting on floor....unloaded on a stand ,yes. Being you have a lot of aluminum, there may be some ( corrosion ) causing a bind. I personally would disassemble one piece at a time while checking for a bind all the way to servo and lubricate as needed, process of elimination. The other thing to check is servo saver tension, usually loose from factory. Now if it turns well while being driven just tighten servo saver till your satisfied with performance.. And also check your endpoints and so on for radio....if you haven't. Did you ever determine what caused the original servos to go bad...just think every thing through and you'll find the issue
 
Thanks Mick, yeah i just had the truck completely apart on the kitchen table for a month stripped down almost to the bare frame lubing and making sure things were tight and moving like they should. Even put all new bearings in everything with a new 8000rpm clutch. It's going to suck if that servo is to weak as it cost damned near 300.00. But, i guess if it doesn't work i may have to upgrade to heavy duty stuff with more voltage like the primal steering servo and upgrade my radio and such to 7.4V or something. At this point iam going to fill it up with gas and try it as soon as the weather gets cooler. Been to hot outside to play around with it. I appreciate your feedback though.
 
Had good luck with power hobby 1/5 scale servo...flysky gt 5 raminator radio,kill switch and lipo .About 150 bucks for everything. I don't recommend primal servos,hit or miss with them.
 
Thanks for all the help guys! I did make a mistake though, i bought the HiTec D845wp servo on Ebay for 90.00 back in 21. So, theres no returning it now but, i wonder if i just need to upgrade Transmitter and receiver so i can fine tune everything and also run more voltage. The 2 servo's iam running are both rated up to 8.4 volts . Sounds to me the radio that Mick suggested would be the thing to try out? Right now i just have the generic controller that came with it so, i think i will just upgrade the radio and see what happens. Guys, i bought this truck 5 years ago and i know it isnt the Rampage but, it is just as good and use's all the same parts as the Rampage trucks. The only real difference is in the chassis length which is about 2 inches longer. Anyways, iam a retired truck driver and i really didnt have alot of time at home to mess with it until now. If i had it all to do over again i think i would have spent a couple thousand more for the big primal truck. But, that doesn't matter now so, iam going to get this thing going and have some fun at the local dirt track. I really appreciate all the feedback from ya'll and your suggestions.

There's more drag with the chassis on the ground vs on the stand, especially if you have softer duro tires as they will drag more when turning statically. Once its moving it will be fine. But if running a single steer servo id make sure its a high torque/metal gear servo.
 
Thanks Mick, Yeah, i already installed a kill switch so, iam good there.But, That remote and battery from Primal i think is a good deal and would probably be the best option. I will just need to figure out how to strap the battery into the truck. Shoppingcart, i would say your probably right and i think i will give it a go and see what happens before i shell out more money. Ive already got enough tied up in this toy as it is so, i think i will just fill it with gas and see what happens and go from there. Appreciate the help guys. I will see if the wife will video it running if i get to that point. hehehe
 
Primal sells cheap straps too.....don't be afraid to get creative.....l know l sure do.....good luck with everything!!!!
