Smartech Hurricane / Titan Center Diff Purpose?

I am confused as to the purpose of the center differential on my Smartech Hurricane C5. Does anyone know why it has a center diff when it already has both a front and back one?
What would be the consequence of permanently locking up the center differential?
Has anyone tried this?
The reason I ask is it seems to route more power to the front wheels than to the back.
 
a center diff will help the car turn tighter and if it has a brake disc on each end of it it will allow for adjusting brake bias.

you can help keep the power transfer down by using diff fluids providing its sealed.
 
Hey kieth, I think the centre diff allows different amounts of drive to the front and rear wheels, kinda like a rear diff allows different amounts of drive to left or right wheel.(different speed of rotation)

I remember on my hyper ST having too thin oil in the centre diff so on certain surfaces, when I hit the throttle hard, the front wheels would just spin while the rears drove. Changing to thicker oil made it a bit more like permanent 4 wheel drive and stopped the front wheels spinning so much and sent more of that power to the back wheels.

I was just bashing it and ended up putting really thick oil in the centre diff which seemed to make it a lot more fun to drive !!

don't know if much of that makes sense but hope it may help you a little bit !!!!! :clown:
 
I locked my centre diff and used a one way front drive shaft to keep brake bias adjustability.
Got fed up with turning full noise and throwing the inside front tyre into orbit!!
