the fuel tank has been sitting with oil in it for quite sometime and the carb will be replaced, it's got a 23cc zenoah i'm unsure of the condition of it but overall it looks o.k and there is no wear on the drive parts.

Looking good so far. Are you still working on this buggy?

I have a Duratrax Firehammer which is identical to your Traveller. I bought it 18+ years ago. I upgraded several things way back. Zenoah G260RC, FG LSD, HobbyThek hardened gears and other smaller tweaks. I put it on the shelf a few years ago. After a friend started talking about RC stuff I have been tearing it down, cleaning and rebuilding. I also have been buying some alloy parts to harden some of the weaknesses.

I make a point to empty the gas tank after running so no issues inside the tank. The fuel lines and primer bulb were dried out so I've replaced them.

It's been fun so far.

I bought a Traveller wing and shell off of eBay. The original wing and shell were pretty battered years ago

i finished it and all it needed was a new carb fuel bulb i have only driven it in the back yard it needs a bigger area.

Nice! Very clean. Once you got it started did it drive okay?

I finished the fully disassembly and detailing of parts over the weekend and restarted the reassembly. I got the new alloy large motor mount installed to replace the plastic part. I also installed a new gear cover and air filter. The foam air filter was completely toast so I got a new style off eBay that fit.

I bought a stainless screw kit and am replacing most of the screws I removed during the disassembly. I might have the assembly finished next weekend but am only managing about 3 hours a week to work on this.

I will add a few pictures of the reassembly when I can.

Here's a few shots of reassembly. The front end shot shows the silver alloy lower arms. The underside-engine shot shows the blue alloy large motor mount. I already had the silver alloy small motor mount.

Was eyeball candy store shopping yesterday and saw something very similar. I think I was looking at fifth scale bodies and a European company was selling it brand new, my memory is terrible.....what was I talking about..... Anyway sooooo cool, 4 wheel or 2 wheel drive?

Thanks. It's just two wheel drive. This Duratrax Firehammer is a clone of the FG Marder and was sourced from Smartech (identical to Smartech Traveller and Carson Attack buggies).

The rear shot shows a beat up FG limited slip differential which was a huge upgrade to the stock diff.

Parts are very hard to come by. The engine is an upgraded Zenoah G260RC so that is easy to get parts for (but doesn't need much). The suspension parts and other plastic bits are only available on eBay and there's very few left.

it did drive okay and i was getting it ready to start today and the steering servo has a problem it is old and came with it and i do have a old servo replacement haha to put in tomorrow.

the shocks are a odd size i had to glue the top plastic front shock connector but i would like to replace them all with new alloy shock caps.

this 615 steering servo came with the traveller and the 615 servo is making movements on it's own something is wrong with it and i tried the silver china made servo it's working and if it dies i got a new servo to put in.

that's them alright but they only ship CDN and US, the front shock plastic i glued might hold up but if i was to replace them i would rather a full alloy cap option to fit the stock shock body it just finding the size cap that fits.
i solved the problem with the 615 servo and the other spare servo was doing it as well it would act erratically when turning the servo too fast so i slow down the servo speed with the DX4 transmitter setting and it fixed it...these older servos need the servo speed turned down to stop it from glitching.

If you change your mind on those shock ends let me know. I could be your "parts mule". I could order the parts and then ship them to the UK to you.

On a similar note I saw rc-car-online.de has a full alloy shock set for Marder and clones that looks real nice. If I remember correctly the whole kit was less than 200 euros

it's ok mate i'm actually located in AUS and i have never needed a parts mule i'll get some alloy caps one day but it's still ok as is with only one glued the other three are good.
i tried to start the traveller today with old 2-stroke fuel and it didn't want to start i got to make some fresh fuel and try again.
