hsp rampage/blackout centre spools and pinions..proved to be pretty much indestructible

been busy making the axle shafts, finished the rear axlea and made up front ones, FLM kaylee cvds one cut short and other i machined an extension from a piece of 4140 and welded it all together on the lathe to keep everything true..end pieces are 8mm hex that fits snug over the spool shaft...no pins to break

DSC02491_zps43a84c8f.webp
DSC02493_zpsbd6f52d8.webp

had to do a bit of machining to get hub pivot and cvd pins aligned

DSC02490_zpsfc761913.webp

bit of machining to get the clutch case to fit, carrier is a vertigo prot for nutechs, had to make the stand offs...using fg clutch bell and 14t pinion

DSC02489_zps07f6a6fc.webp

bent up the bottom of the chassis rail and mocked it up...next will be engine mounts then start to build off the engine rail

i'll add some axle bracing once all the brackets and steering set up is done. sucker is going to be pretty big

awsume project and the workmanship is top notch.where did u get the engine and howmany $$$ ? cant wait to see this baby in action keep it up its great

had to get the motor from ddm $699.. then order top ends, cooling head and carbs from obr, they haven't had twins for a while...it's cost me probably $300 more this way but i couldn't wait any longer...
anyone need complete rcmk 57cc top ends?

oops..typo...$300 more than buying the whole motor from obr
shipping and Canada taxes are what puts it up there as well.

busy yesterday, got the chassis floor figured out..just trying to scab together the gears and drive train before i go nuts with the tubing

do u have any info as to the rmp u can expect out of that twin.i see they say 14 hp thats killer thinking about putting one in a 1/5 sc.top fuel car im working on.thanks for all the help you have been to me.

rcmk claim 14hp...the obr full mod top ends i have coming make a tad more but have a lot more torque apparently...someone who has both likened it to a healthy mouse motor compared to a rat motor(350 chev SB to 454BB)
i'm going to run vrc propipes too to max my hp and torque

got the floor pan outline done, spent hrs machining bits to get my gear cluster to work, then spent another few hrs altering the lawnmower shafts and figuring an angled jack shaft only to find that once shortened i didn't have enough angle at the cvd's for wheel travel i'm looking for...bugger...stared at it some, moved the engine/chassis forward an inch and now can go from gear cluster to diff direct with no jackshaft...will clear the motor by just a couple of mm when articulating so just a bit of manipulation and front is done

first i machined down an old stripped hurrax fr hub i had laying around

DSC02496_zps70b5ec3e.webp
DSC02497_zps4192d918.webp

now i can use a hurrax cvd to mount my gears...the shaft was too short so machined down all parts to gain 7mm

machined 2mm off a himoto 30t gear

DSC02501_zpsb0074302.webp

4mm off the square

DSC02498_zpse860cd2f.webp

also machined 1mm or so off the cvd where it meets the bearing so it would sit thru 1mm more..and voila hub and gear cluster attached to a hurrax cvd ready for the spline slider and other cvd end welding together

DSC02504_zpsc947a818.webp

next was to make mounts for the hub, steel welded to the frame on the bottom and aluminum on top bolted to the clutch carrier

hopefully more progress tomorrow...once my rear driveshaft gear and shaft is done the chassis will take no time

got the rear drive shaft made up and mounted...ended up welding the gear on a shaft that is welded to a rampage brake nut (where my brake will be), left the shaft long until i figure my drive shaft set up

now that's done i started on the chassis, hope to get enough done to mount the 4 links in the next day...decided to use vvc rear shocks all round, they'll give enough travel mounted in the right place

i've fabbed a few things in the past...and this should top out around 40mph but will get there in an instant...should throw some decent roosters

got the front driveshaft done

DSC02518_zps4c29364e.webp

DSC02520_zps1bb68598.webp

cut and turned down a hurrax cvd and cut the end off a rampage drive cup...just need to weld it all up now

DSC02522_zps2a9dd240.webp

with that done moved on to the front four link...takes bleedin ages making all the brackets and then fitting them...much grinding and filing later

DSC02525_zpsbcc518c3.webp

just the front bottom brackets to do and then can start on the back. mocked up a vrc 5b propipe with toxyc manifold..got another one coming...will fit perfect stacked on top each other...pics give you and idea...will run 2 hpi filters straight off the carbs.. that'll leave room out back for the tank and passenger side will be th, brake and steering servos, batt etc

DSC02528_zps2cf2b360.webp

have to stay 4 steps ahead all the time so half the day is figuring stuff and half making it, once the rear links are done it'll be plain sailing

getting toward the end of the time consuming stuff now.

had to modify the front upper link arms...despite all my measuring and checking for square i missed the step of checking the bleeding steering lock with the wheels on :o 2 hrs later

rear 4 link done

got the brakes just about figured...will go hydro down the road but some modified rampage brakes will work for now...rear driveshaft will complete the drivetrain...whoohoo

other pipe should be here monday then i can finish off the frame, tear it down and paint it...if my head kits come by friday i could have it running by the end of the weekend..possibly
